Always a great meal, and wonderful service staff. Only concern with our meal was the hibachi was served much earlier than the sushi with our party.

Wow..oh wow this place is great!! Service was good a bit slower but made you want your food more! The soup was excellent, just a nice teaser… The food was awesome and plentiful too! I took home enough for lunch the next day! I had the hibachi NY steak and salmon… Super tasty and very satisfying too! Can go wrong here!

Used to love this place. Lately it’s been so busy you better be willing to wait an hour just to get sat. No one pays attention to the customers coming in or tells you anything about the long wait. Last wknd my husband and I waited almost 10 min for someone to even acknowledge us and when they finally did, told us the wait would be an hour or more. The hibachi side only had two tables of people. Lots of empty seats. So not sure why so long of a wait. Maybe short staffed. But yet we saw door dash workers coming to get takeout orders. How about this, if you’re that busy, or short staffed, don’t make it worse and only do in-person orders. You’re going to lose customers prioritizing to-go ones. Not to mention we saw two other couples leave because they got tired of waiting.

We went here to celebrate and ordered the lover’s sushi boat and scallop hibachi. The side salads and soups were included in our orders. Everything was delicious and our server was great. The fish tasted very fresh! Will definitely come back again.

My wife and I have been here twice. The first time the only thing we remember was the insane wait time for food to come out. We decided to try it again, yesterday.

Straight to the point: wait was still long, quality of food was bad, quality control doesn’t exist, and service was trash.

Family that ordered after us got their food before us. Avocados in the sushi were brown and mushy. Hair was found in the chicken katsu. Waiter did not seem to want to be bothered.

And apparently you can’t split a check? What restaurant, this day and age, cannot split a check? How is that even possible?

There is literally nothing that would bring us back. Honestly, I’d turn down a free meal. It’s not worth it.

There is better sushi in the tiny Japanese cafe in Sparta.

Delicious food and kind service!

Pro tip; Don’t order only sushi at hibachi grill as it takes much longer than the hibachi to come out. Place your sushi order as soon as you can.

Also good to know; Tips at hibachi grill are split between chef and sever.

Also, don’t yell at servers. That’s not nice

Food and atmosphere are great. They never seem to have the right amount of staff in the right place. Sometimes they have 2 hosts when only one is needed, but they can’t help with anything else, so you get seated promptly, but then sit and wait for service.

This is just a review for Hibachi. I will most definitely come back to try out the sushi selection.

If you’re looking for a fun place for you and your friends, it’s a blast. Even if you have a small party of 4, you’ll start chatting it up with strangers you are sharing the hibachi grill.

It can be expensive if you do the meat combo, that’s your best value. You will get more than enough food: side salad, broth, fried rice, noodles and vegetables, and your protein.

The chef that cooked for our table was fun and entertaining. Hibachi grill is watching a chef prepare your food as you are entertained. You get it all: the sake (or a nonalcoholic drink spritz), vegetable toss, and the flipping of spatulas.

It’s a popular spot to celebrate. You will be entertained. You won’t leave overly full, the food portions are just right. Our group was happy with the service and fun.

If you’re looking for a sushi place, this may be a spot to try it out. There are lunch value options available. I’ll give those a review, update when I get the chance.

Talking with food associates in the area, it’s recommend not to do delivery or to-go. That’s your warning.

If the service could be rated as MORE than 5 stars, it would be. We went here at my daughter’s suggestion ( it was for her 20th birthday ) and were glad she picked Shogun. Our food preparer was engaging and entertaining and was quite funny…and the food was REALLY good. We had no wait when we entered and all walked out having had plenty to eat. Was this place cheap ? No…but it was quite good and the time and attention that our chef ( and our waiter as well ) paid to us made that price easy to understand.

If you have young children — especially finicky ones who don’t like vegetables — you might want to think twice about bringing them. But for anyone older than that ( especially couples looking for a unique dinner on date night ) I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.
