Local that hadn’t been there in 15 yrs! It turned out to be a good experience… Not the Best Ever but a good experience! We’ll definitely be back!

This is my favorite cuisine, but I’ll be finding somewhere else to have it. We arrived at 7:45 and were told it was a little wait. At 8:40 I asked how much longer. They just said a short while, a short while and wouldn’t say how long. At this point I would have left. I had my baby with me and I don’t like for him to be out that late, but it’s where my brother wanted to eat and he had just graduated. We were finally seated at 9:05. That’s when we realized that the two tables that had been seated for a long time had not even been served yet. At that point I figured it’d be another hour at least before the cook came. Thankfully my brother agreed to leave and go somewhere faster so that we could get home. I just feel like it was rude and inconsiderate to see that we had a small child and not tell us that the wait was going to be hours. I know there food is really good from prior experiences, but honestly I probably won’t go back.

The overall experience was great!! First time being there. Read the reviews beforehand, decided to try it out anyway. GLAD I DID!! The wait was a little long however, the food was amazing!! The chef (Jackie Chan) was great entertainment and can hold a conversation with you at the same time. Kept us laughing! There was a customer there at the table with us that was completely rude to them the whole time. The chef was very patient with him and still let us have a good time. I will be going back!

Haven’t been in Shogun in over twenty years, but went on January 9th; a Tuesday. The place was dead, which was worrisome but Tuesdays likely aren’t a busy day anyway. Lots of wear and tear on the interior of the building, but our table / grill was fine. The server was a quiet lady, very pleasant smile. The soup and salad were just okay. Things improved quickly when our chef arrived. He did his job very well, and he certainly entertained. I didn’t get his name but he did say he was originally from Indonesia. If I could give him one piece of advice it would be that the chicken was ever so slightly dry. But hey, that really isn’t a complaint because it was still good! The server kept our drinks full and everything went great. Hope to return again sometime.

Were up stairs tonight, large group (12). The chef was great, food was delicious but the service from the waitress was terrible. I had sweet tea which was good. The waitress never showed to fill glasses or to see if we needed anything else. She came when the meal was over and we asked for tea and she said they were out and were cooking more, did not ask if we could drink something else. Like I said the food was great and the cook was great, service was lacking

Terrible, just terrible. I feel like everyone that worked there was on something. And we waited for 45 minutes to be seated wasn’t even that busy. Food was alright but chicken had a weird taste. Chef took 45 minutes to come out after we were seated. Overall we spent an hour and 45 minutes and I feel like I was robbed out of 42 dollars for me and my girlfriends meal. Overpriced and unsanitary.

My husband and some friends and I went with our children. We had a cleaning staff there at another table cleaning staring our 3 and 5 year old down. He came to our table to clean the grill top and kept staring at our little girls. Asking questions…age, where they went to school and their names. Sick! He was a child predator. Told him that he had taken things too far and that he was done at our table. He continued to stare at our innocent children and finally left. There were cops outside the restaurant and we told them what happened. Apparently they have had many complaints about this and that’s why they are there.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN THERE!!!!

This place has gone downhill bad. It was filthy. We waited over an hour to be seated. The “chef” was a great young guy but can’t cook for anything.. Food was burned and tasteless. He was really great entertainment and friendly but not a cook.

TERRIBLE !!!! The only reason I gave it one star is that’s the lowest rating I could give. Food was below average and the service was even worse, we went without refills for 30 minutes at a time and some of the refills we actually got up and got them ourself. Self Service should have been a sign hanging at the entrance. When we received the check gratuity was included and when we informed our waitress that we wanted it removed from our check because of the poor service she became angry and started arguing with us. She finally removed it from the bill after making some rude comments. The first and last time I will ever eat at Shoguns.

We went here because we were craving sushi and didn’t want to drive all the way into Charlotte. A friend recommended it, so we thought we would give it a try. Everything about this place was either unimpressive, disconcerting, or disappointing. We should have known from the dilapidated look of the place and the empty parking lot to move on.
The man who greeted us didn’t ask if we wanted Hibachi or Sushi, so we were sat at the hibachi grill, but that one didn’t work, so he moved us to another. The waitress was very vocal about moving us because we were looking at the sushi menu. So we were moved to the bar. “But our sushi person isn’t hear yet, so it may be a little bit.” This at 5:45PM on a Sunday. By 6, the sushi person arrived. Apparently their manager is the only sushi person they have.
The sushi menu is large, but is basically all the same things with nothing inspired or unique. We ordered 3 different rolls. They came out one at a time and took him over 20 minutes to make them. The portions were poor. The quality was worse than you can find at Harris Teeter. The service was bad from every single person in the place, from the waitress to the “greeter” to the sushi-chef / manager. The floors were sticky. The tables weren’t set up for service. The food was overpriced and bad.
I RARELY put up poor reviews. I can often chock it up to a place or particular staff member having a bad day. This is an exception. I highly recommend that everyone avoid this place. You can find higher quality sushi in the grocery store. You can find better service at Sake Express (which should tell you something).
