Tasty food and great drinks! Service is spectacular! Check out the “Thanks for smoking” drink where they literally light a cherry wood for the smoke!

We enjoyed our meal at Shoemakers. It is always wonderful to leave a gourmet restaurant feeling stuffed, and not still hungry.

The atmosphere is high-end and classy.

The server was on-point and very respectful and formal. He has recommendations to offer when we had questions.

Cocktails were very elegant. My husband enjoyed his Thank You for Smoking, which was really unique! Served with a smoking wooden lid over it!

The food was served in a timely manner with minimal wait time (but not too quickly).

We loved the pork belly appetizer the best–it was served in a way I have never seen before, so crisp and mouthwatering, and we both enjoyed the duck with grapefruit and the pork chop with apples as our main courses. The mains do come with sides even though this isn’t mentioned in the menu.

My only complaint is that my pork was slightly overdone, and not medium as requested. The appetizers we got also all had the same sauce on them, and it would have been nice to see a little versatility there. Though of course the aioli was delicious.

We would have gotten dessert, but we were so full! Don’t forget to request bread for your table!

My husband and I ate dinner there this past weekend for Valentine’s Day. Jennifer was the most amazing server!!! We had a reservation and only had to wait a few minutes for a table. There is bread service. My cocktails were delicious. The food was great. My steak was initially overcooked but they were very willing to correct it and graciously comped it from the check. Complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries sealed the deal. Overall, a splendid experience that I look forward to repeating.

Service was very good despite the fact that Lilly was the only wait staff along with a bartender. They were holding the restaurant together. We had tried for 2 years to get reservations on short notice unsuccessfully. We finally remembered to make reservations in advance for a birthday celebration and were looking so foward with high expectations for Shoemakers. We had sticky ribs which were delicious. Everything else was mediocre at best. The ribeye was just ok, not nearly as flavorful as they usually are. The pork chops were a little tough even though they were medium. Crab cakes were flavorful but a bit mushy. All the food was luke warm. Our bill was $279 for 3 of us which included 2 glasses of house wine and a bourbon. Our waitress was super sweet and friendly. The atmosphere was unique and very nice but for the price point we were extremely disappointed and will not return.

Had dinner with the family, we go 2-3 times a year. This time felt a bit flat. The food was not bad, it just did not feel like the elevated food we have had in the past. Scallops were a little overcooked, and my steak okay, but not $50 good. Service was strong as always. For a restaurant with lower prices it would have been fine, but I expect to be a bit blown away there and I was not.

We love this place. We try to visit Shoemakes for dinner when we make it to Lynchburg. Their venue changes with the seasons and their executive chef consistently produces a wonderful menu of amazing options. It’s a must-do when in Lynchburg. The hotel is an old shoe factory that has been renovated into a luxury hotel. It also is just as amazing as the food.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary last weekend. Our server was wonderful, she told us they had been very busy and were slightly backed up but you would have never known. Food was excellent. I had the pork chop and my wife had the fillet, both of which were prepared very well. Wonderful place, we will definitely come back when we are in town again.

Chef Schölly is an absolute magician! We tried the new fall menu tonight & were absolutely blown away. The octopus appetizer was the freshest tasting seafood! Service was phenomenal & personable. Absolutely worth a visit, couldn’t recommend it more. If you are looking for an incredible experience look no further!

My husband and I had an incredible dining experience at Shoemakers. From the start, the service was exceptional, thanks to our bartender, Zach. As a gin lover, I started with the Tiger Lily, a refreshing, fruit-forward cocktail that set the tone for the evening. My husband doesn’t drink, so Zach crafted a delicious virgin mojito for him, followed by another fun and fruity mocktail that he thoroughly enjoyed.

For appetizers, we ordered the Cornmeal & Panko Fried Oysters, which were cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with crispy pork belly. While waiting for our meals, I enjoyed another delightful cocktail called the Cuke of Sussex, made with gin, cucumber, and chartreuse – so refreshing!

For our main courses, my husband had the Chicken Milanaise, which was a perfect blend of savory and sweet, while I ordered the Seared Striped Bass, which was memorable thanks to the mushroom salad and leek fondue. With dinner, I ordered an Aviation, which the bartender executed perfectly and added a beautiful lemon peel garnish. As a notable head nod, we enjoyed some small talk with Priscilla and Jackie. Our experience was truly memorable.

Shoemakers provided a remarkable dining experience, and we can’t wait to return. Five stars all the way!

A perfect night.
The waitress was kind and the food and drink were great.
We even had a private room upon request.
If you have the money, Shoemakers is worth a visit.
