Food is good, I love Bento which you could choose your favorite foods (3items from the list) to make your own Bento. Service is normal. Window-side seat is very nice. However, there is an insect (small cockroach) when we are eating, which adversely affected my appetite. (That’s why I just gave 3 stars.)

A very good sushi place my favourite by far.
Amazing food I love getting the California roll there!
Amazing to meet up with friends service and atmosphere were very good. We had almost no wait for our table. We have gone many times over the years.

Food was fine, but the service was extremely disappointing. It took an hour to get our food, and we couldn’t help but notice that the staff were so overwhelmed with online orders that they couldn’t attend to their in-person groups. Our waitress was doing expo, and the two chefs were fulfilling the online orders before anyone else’s. The table next to us was there since before we came in, and they got their small shared plate just before ours. I recommend the owners hire specific staff just for online orders since it’s hindering their ability to attend to their in-person customers. I’d hate to see a place that is so well regarded in Red Deer be shadowed by their lack of management in regards to balancing online and in-person orders.

Great location, cozy inside, but the names of the dishes do not correspond to what I expected. Apparently I did not read the ingredients in the menu, but automatically compared them with what I ate in other places. I recommend baked oysters and miso soup, these are the dishes for which I will return to this place.

Food taste good, price reasonable. Not traditional bento box, alittlle bit feels like fusion…

I hadn’t been to Shiso in a while and decided to give it a go with my parents visiting from our of town. It used to be really good, but figured with my last experience id change my review.
My mum is gluten intolerant, the server was unaware of what meals were gluten free, which I understand you can’t know all of it, but not being able to confirm if the tempura was rice flour was frustrating. The service took over an hour, 20 minutes between appetizers and the main course, our salads never came as part of the dinner special. To top it off both the men’s and woman’s facilities were so gross they weren’t usable. You could smell them when you walked in.
I’m thinking we just hit a bad day. Will try again one day, but for now I’m put off for a while.

I think I may have just ordered wrong for my taste for my first visit? This place has some really good food reviews and I’ve been referred by more than one person to try it, but I found the food just ok.
To start with the positives, the location is great and the view our the many windows is great at the top of the hill. The atmosphere is comfortable and pleasant, as was the wait staff. The Black Dragon roll I ordered wasn’t what I was expecting (I was tired, I thought it was all one roll, but was three separate rolls with the different ingredients) but it had my favorite bite of the day.
The crab stick salad was tasty, but was missing the crispy yam in the photo, which was a little sad. I would probably eat this again in the future though.
Negatively, the one roll I ate, I forgot the name of because it was very dry and lackluster in flavour. And the tuna tataki I ordered was a large serving size that included spiral radish and a salad portion. But the whole dish was almost a soup, floating in a very strong sauce that (to me) overwhelmed the taste of the fish altogether. It was the second dish I ate and it was so strong, I could still taste it at the end of my meal.
It might have just been an off day for me, I will be giving this place another chance in the future, but it didn’t really impress me for my first visit.

Had lunch at Shiso and loved sitting in the booth and having the time to reconnect. We all had Bento boxes and all items were delicious. The server was covering a bunch of tables and we had to wait a few times to get utensils and our bill.

The rolls here are pretty average. I was excited for something extraordinary but was disappointed. The service could have been better as well. I just didn’t feel like my family was a priority.
Great few of the city though! Great place to take a date if you’re will to spend the extra $$ it seems to cost here.
