Talk about a sleeper restaurant!
Shinsen absolutely blew us away, with a perfect locale just outside the train station, it is a fantastic place to eat.
The menu is extensive and a great place for authentic sushi and east asian cuisine! Usually places like this fail to offer an expansive menu but Shinsen know what they’re doing!
We opted for the Chef Special Firecracker Salmon Roll, Firecracker Chicken Ramen bowl, and Seared Steak Shoyu.
The service was amazing, staff are polite, helpful, serve with a smile, and the food was made super quick!
As for the taste? Perfection is the only word that comes to mind! Generous portions, gorgeous presentations, deep flavours, and overall just a very tasty, satisfying and filling meal! Not too oily, not too spicy, a perfect sweet spot.
Their drinks section is great too, and we settled for a Lychee and a Mango fruit drink.
Honestly, a must visit. Extremely satisfied and will be going back to try more!

Best sushi place outside of Manchester. Period. The Food is stunning, the staff are wonderful, the service is amazing and considering they have just moved into the unit and have faced a lot of challengers, they’re absolutely smashing it. Well done Team Shinsen!!!

I eat a lot of sushi in a lot of places. I spend a lot of time in sushi restaurants up and down the country and now I can eat good quality Sushi at a really good price just around the corner from where I live. I’ve now had 4 meals at Shinsen and sampled more than just sushi. It was all amazing. I could not be happier with this place.

First visit to Shinsen, absolutely loved the food. Nice warm welcome n quick service. Loved everything we ordered, it was a quick stop over. We ordered Chicken Ramen, Crispy prawn skewers and chicken dim sums. They were all amazing

The food is incredible with great portion sizes and the prices are spot on.
Every member of staff was so friendly and happy to help. Really enjoyed our first visit to Shinsen and really recommend. We will be regulars!

Owner seems like a nice fella, done well to start in his home to where he is now. Food was great in terms of flavour, sushi was top notch and very fresh (made Infront of you, obviously) the sandos (meat/beef one)was nice in flavour but lacked any meat to bite into really. Would be better if it was actually full of meat or had more pieces. (Even if they have to up the price !) .. otherwise flavours and food wise all was good, defo would visit again for the sushi and maybe try the ramen… nice addition to the local scene 🙂

I came here with my 7 year old daughter who loves sushi and ramen as much as me. The staff are friendly and accommodating when I asked for items with no spice. The place itself is quite small but luckily we got a table. I think more seating is definitely needed. The food was wonderful. We tried the pumpkin karaage this time which are lovely lightly battered pumpkin fritters. We loved them 🙂 the ramen is a comforting broth with noodles and chicken, seaweed, vegetables, crispy onions topped with a boiled egg. My daughter gave her egg to me as she doesn’t like egg. It is full of flavour and a huge bowl so well worth the money. This has become our favourite place to visit. On previous occasions I’ve had salmon temaki too which is so good ❤️

Some of the best food i have ever had was so fresh and full of flavour and the staff are so kind and helpfull. It being a small place there aint many sits but if u go when its quiet u would be able to get one butwould deffo go again the chefs and the front should be proud of them selfs for so a good place that they run

Came here today and tried a few different types of sushi and the gyozas, they were amazing! We got them to takeaway and they travelled well too. I have a shellfish allergy but love sushi, I let the staff know about my allergy and I immediately felt at ease that it would be safe for me to eat there. They recommended various types of sushi that would be fine for me to try and they were all delicious. Will definitely be coming back very soon!
