I went to Shine Café for brunch, and there was already a long line up when I arrived, so things looked promising.

I ordered:
Dallas
Chorizo, crispy jalapeños, cheddar & roasted garlic chipotle hollandaise served on French fries

I switched out the French fries for English muffins because I like things more traditional. Plus, I felt French fries might have made things too salty overall.
For sides, I got the cornbread, which was quite good!

I do personally think the combination is slightly on the saltier side, but that’s fine. The crispy jalapeños were certainly nice, and so was the chipotle hollandaise.

However, I have to say that the taste does not compare to brunches I’ve had in Montreal and in Toronto.

The cafe is cramped and stuffy — no fresh air at all. I ordered the berry lemon French toast expecting it to be fresh and crunchy. Instead, it was soft, soggy, and smelled strongly of egg. Only the edges were edible. I was so hungry I forced myself to eat one, but it was awful. I didn’t even want to take it home when they offered a box. Do not go here.

if ur looking for ur typical egg bennies with a slight twist, then this is the place to go to!!
their thetis eggs benedict tasted avrg but i felt that the sauce was overpowered by the taste of bell peper. however their sqash soup was BEAUTIFUL and PACKED with flavour, tho it was a little too sweet. their bread was also quite nice. overall 2.8/5

Friendly, unpretentious, and consistently tasty food make Shine our favorite regular breakfast or brunch spot. Their menu offers lots of great options, and they always are ready to accommodate dietary needs or personal preferences that you might have. Our favourites are the club sandwich, the “famous” pancakes and any of the Benny’s (which come on potato pancakes but really however you want it done!) The staff are always there with a smile and friendly conversation. The owner is often present working hard with everyone else. We love that these guys are here to serve our neighbourhood every day. Thanks so much for another fantastic year!

Had a great breakfast this morning. Coffee is excellent and service was outstanding. Overall a very good local breakfast place. The mimosas were very good start to the day.

Delicious food, but terrible service!
Ive always had a great experience at the downtown location, but this one on Fort was simply horrible.
Arriving on site to 3 dirty tables outside, no biggie.
Our meal was delivered without cutlery and I had to get up to go get my own.
No one asked once how our meal was.
In fact, when my Eggs Benedict arrived, she placed in front of me a half order and said, “Here’s one. The second will arrive shortly.”
How about just deliver me what I ordered?
I had to ask for more water which didn’t even happen after requesting it.
After sitting around for 10 minutes, I finally decided to go inside to pay because no one was coming over to help us.
Just a lame experience overall.

This quaint little breakfast place is the cutest! I loved the decor and the old-timey atmosphere! The food was massive portions for the price, and everything was dont so well, you can taste the love they used to cook your food! The service was friendly and personable. Everyone looked happy to be there!
Their mimosa was really good as a side point, they used pulpy orange juice for mine and I was overjoyed!!
I really hope you think about eating here next time you’re in the neighborhood, some of the best food I’ve had across Canada!

Visiting Victoria from Vancouver and each time I come to visit, I make sure to stop by Shine Cafe! The Polish Eggs Benedict is super tasty and worth coming back for every time. The use of perogies instead of English muffins definitely made it for me.
