The staff show concern assuming you need more than an hour to enjoy the food here.
Expeditious cleaning staff.
Lunchtime cost me around 1200 Taiwan dollars
Staff aren’t as friendly and approachable as they used to be. We almost got into an argument with the staff serving the sashimi. Did they feel we are coming for free food and no need to be courteous?? My husband asked what fish do they have. Sure I know it has labels in front but the word is so tiny and the English word were even tinnier. We were pissed off when one of the staff answered ‘just read, it’s written there’. Can’t they even say out what fish are served?? Old folks with poor eyesight or illiterate and foreigners who can’t read Chinese nor English… How???
I also noticed that not all items have English translation. How do we order if we can’t read Chinese? Does it mean that Shin Yeh caters only to locals?
Overall, they are too complacent. There’s no need to be nice or attempt to offer any customer service because the buffet is always full… But there are now more and more buffet restaurants so don’t be too sure.
We asked for the hand roll maki to have crab sticks and asparagus in one roll. The staff said they don’t do such thing. So he gave 2 hand rolls – one with crabstick and one with asparagus. And we simply took out asparagus and put with the crabstick, then threw away the other hand roll. Wasted food and you are ok with that?? It’s totally lack of flexibility and not using the brain. So disappointed.
Conclusion –
1) Bad service
2) Poor food quality
3) Expensive
Although it was crowded, the place didn’t sound too noisy.
I wouldn’t recommend the place to smaller eaters. Bigger eaters however might find it more interesting.
Price for afternoon tea went up to 768 nt per person with service fee. Food is still good.
2023:
Afternoon tea price is 682 per person including service fee.
Sashimi was good, other foods were pretty good. Lots of desserts.
