I truly adore this restaurant, from the food and service to the decor. The outdoor view is stunning, and I highly recommend sitting outside to enjoy this serene atmosphere. I have no complaints about the food. Highly recommend, 10/10!

I want to start by saying I was really excited to host my birthday at Shima, hyped it up to my influencer friends & left very disappointed. From the start the service was slow, it took a while for our orders to be taken. Our waiter seemed really spaced out & all over the place. One of my guest ordered sushi but the waiter put in an order for another dish that came out and they were asking everyone who ordered it. The answer none of us did!
I ordered the curry mussels and vegan sushi roll which were good but nothing spectacular. I requested a spoon for my curry 3xs from 2 different people before I received it only after our waiter brought me small forks for the mussels that I should’ve received from the beginning but still no spoon.
One of my guests ordered a papaya salad that she said was disgusting so she sent it back & they still charged us for it! Which made no sense! Saying they already took off the dish that no one ordered like they did us a favor when it was the waiters mistake!
After that incident the waiter asked did we want more sparkling & still water for the table I said yes and he never came back! He then watched me pour the little bit of sparkling water left into my glass and still never brought the water. The rest of the night he did not check on us. He only returned to the table after my partner stopped him about my birthday acknowledgement. At this point I was so over it and ready to go! Never have we had this type of treatment in an upscale
establishment! We weren’t even offered dessert!
To put the cherry on top the waiter asked for an additional tip on top of the already added gratuity stating he had to split that with the hostess and the team so we should leave a tip for him! The audacity!! Such a bad look for Island House! Not a birthday dinner to remember for any positive reason!

The pad thai was far too spicy, with no indication on the menu that it would be. It wasn’t very good to begin with, and on top of that, we never received the scallops yet were still charged for them. The salmon fried rice was just okay. Service was lacking as well and we barely had our water refilled.

Everything about this dinner was fantastic. The starter we had, lobster baos were amazing. Messy but absolutely delicious. Our entrees were great, the pad kra pao. Which wasn’t spicy at all but nonetheless great. The Thai style spicy tuna with a red dragon roll was also great. And the banana wontons with coconut gelato were impeccable.

Papaya salad was nice, tuna tartare was fresh but pretty tasteless. And we’ve tried all the desserts and nothing was great.

One of my two favorite places I ate on the whole island. The Pad See Ew was perfectly seasoned and tasted amazing. The atmosphere is very nice, posh, classy. Service was prompt and nice, they are likely tipped also well.
Sit outside on the patio, marina view for sunset views.
If driving here, you have to drive further further then walk a bit to the place as it’s inside of a resort. Public is welcome.

Shima was highly recommended to us by the manager/owner of another restaurant we had dinner at. Their recommendation was totally on point! The menu has so many delicious sounding dishes you’d be hard pressed not to find something you’ll enjoy. Our server Henry was utterly wonderful. The crispy soft boiled eggs were eggcellent.

The food was amazing. For appetizers, we ordered the carmelized pork bao bun and the tempura chicken with spicy wontons. Both were very good. Entrees were fried Hong Kong Street Noodles with shrimp and Pad See Ew. Both were delicious. For dessert we had the sticky date pudding with ice cream. Again very good. Service and ambience were excellent. We will definitely be returning.

My experience was good. service was decent but different servers kept coming to the table and asking if we are good which is nice but got confusing after a while. We ordered three dishes, the house roll, popcorn crawfish and Hong Kong green curry noodles. The dishes were well balanced and tasted good. The crawfish was veryyy underwhelming considering the price. I don’t mind paying for a lobster dish but please put a little bit of effort into a $40 dollar dish. It was literally served on chopped romaine lettuce with lemon juice and they were trying to pass it as YUzu dressing. The Ambiance is beautiful with amazing views, but the food need to reflect the vibe and it only half way does. Also you have to mention that you want a patio table when booking. Or you will automatically will be seated inside.
