Stopped in on a work trip because we heard they had the best wings in Syracuse. Got the Frankenstein and BBQ. Frankenstein was a strange mix of ranch, mustard, soy, teriyaki, and a couple of other sauces. It was pretty good, with the teriyaki and salt coming on strong. The wings were cooked perfectly and overall really good but will probably go for a burger if I ever come back.
What made this place was the people. One of the regulars brought me a chair when I went up to the bar and the bartender, Kathy, was great. Explained the whole menu and was very enthusiastic about the restaurant and showed genuine interest in the people. A dive bar if there ever was one, but one that has great food and even better people.

Awesome vibes and service at the local watering hole! Ordered wings and onion rings. The wings were cooked extremely well – crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I got their signature Frankenstein sauce, which I would describe as a Soy/Teriyaki/Cajun combination of flavors. It was extremely unique but would not be my choice if I were to order again. The onion rings were ok. They were cooked well, but did not have great flavor or seasoning. Overall, great bar and would absolutely return.

Stopped in at Shiftys after the ‘ Cuse game on Saturday night. Sadly, Boston College blew them away, but it was a great win at the end of the night.
We arrived around 7 pm with one table available at the door. Within a few minutes, two spots opened up at the end of the bar and that’s when the magic began. I ordered at pint of Yuengling and a dozen Wings and my wife ordered a Surfside and Chicken Strips with tater tots.
Decided to split the dozen Wings to 6 Garlic Parm and 6 Frankenstein. Both orders came with celery and blue cheese. I like my wings saucy so ordered a hot sauce on the side.
The Garlic and Parm wings were fantastic.
It appears that they use real fresh crushed garlic and shredded Parmesan.
The Frankenstein Wings were amazing as well.
I inquired about what was on the Frankenstein and was informed that it’s a mixture of everything.. My assumption would be all their dry ingredients. Regardless, the wings were cooked perfectly, nice and juicy and flavourful.
The chicken fingers were juicy and lightly breaded. The tots were cooked perfectly with a crunchy outside.
There was a band setting up on the stage and we stuck around to listen to them play.
The band was called Prime Time with 7 members including a Keyboardist, Sax , Trumpet, Bassist, Lead , Drummer and vocals.
Absolutely blown away by the talent.
The place was full by the time we left at 9:30 pm.
Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures of the food, but managed to get a recording of the band
It was a magnificent experience with great food, great music and great local patrons made the Syracuse loss vanish away.

Came here after doing a bit of reading on Google reviews. I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a bar. Upon arrival my dad and I sat at a table. When the bartender Cathy ( maybe Kathy) learned that it was our first time there we were compelled to sit at the bar. We met some awesome people at the bar that made us feel like we’d been going there for years. The people sitting next to me told me about what flavor of wings to get the Franken-fatal they were even so kind as to give me a sample from their plate. I’ve never felt so welcome in any establishment. The wings themselves were absolutely the best I’ve had, and I’ve eaten wings in just about every wing joint in Buffalo. Neither Duff’s, The Anchor Bar, nor Gabriel’s Gate can compare. The barkeep recommended we eat the fried mushrooms which are not breaded until the ticket comes in were easily the best fried mushrooms I’ve ever had. I will most assuredly return for more wings and a burger which I saw being delivered and looked absolutely amazing. I will definitely be returning, Shifty’s has definitely become one of my favorites, and that’s only after eating one meal there. I look forward to many more meals and many more friendly encounters.

Perfect place to catch the SU game. The wings are always incredible. For those of you who really enjoy something different try the Frankenstein wings. They’re excellent!!! Today I tried a burger, for the first time here and it was excellent. They made it perfectly rare with all the toppings I wanted. ordered a relatively large amount of food online tonight for me and my husband, he went to pick it up. he came back with half our order after confirming with the staff they gave him everything. even he thought it wasn’t all of it, not knowing the order like i did. sent him the receipt and he went back for the rest. after explaining to the staff they left out half our order, he was approached by some dude asking if there was a problem….like this guy was going to fight my husband ? weird vibes. so the second half of our order had been sitting around i guess, including a salad which was now wilted and somehow warm, see photos. wings were tasty but no longer hot, along with all the starters. we don’t live far luckily, so going back wasn’t a huge deal. just wish they’d given us everything the first trip.

A fun local pub with really good food at great prices. We stopped in since in downtown cuse and wanted somewhere for wings and drinks. So glad we did!!! ⭐️! The menu is simple bar food made with quality ingredients and care from kitchen staff. The wings are top notch, plenty of meat, cooked just right and NOT overcooked or overly sauced. Kitchen is run with care, fryer used is absolutely maintained with care and oil is either changed or filtered and not allowed to get too hot, fried foods tasted of food NOT oil!!! Great job to kitchen staff!!!Great beer selection with friendly bar staff. Always nice to stop in local bar and to be treated like a local!!! We will be back
