One of my go to weekly location to get pastries for mom. She loves their baked pork buns, and I like the cream coconut bun, or their cocktail bun. Sometimes, I would buy their shredded pork bun. During birthdays or special occasions, I also would buy their cakes like the tiramisu, mocha cake or their fruit tarts. Their cakes are not too sweet at all nor have too much whipped cream unlike other pastries locations.

Sheng Kee has a lot of locations throughout the bay. Their buns are OK and tend to run on the smaller side. I do like how they open early at 7am and have warm pastries. Today I got ham & egg bun $2.75, Vietnamese sandwich $5.85, bbq pork flick $2.55 and 2x chicken pie $2.25. They were OK, not great. The worst was their version of a “Vietnamese” sandwich.

I really enjoyed everything about this place before it expanded. The pastries are decent, of which there are few specific items I really enjoy. Unfortunately, prices are now in the gouging range, so I don’t stop in nearly as much as I used to. The younger workers speak far better English than the older women. When the older women workers don’t understand a request, they respond, “we no have, or it broken…”. Then a younger worker will often step in and save the day. lol

Loved it!! There was such a variety of bread and cakes we didn’t know which to choose. We bought several and they were all delicious. The hot chocolate was amazing and the temperature perfect to start drinking right of way. The ambience was picturesque and relaxing and the staff was very friendly. We’ll definitely be back throughout our entire San Francisco vacation!!

The staff here behave as if they really don’t want to work here. They are so consistently rude and unfriendly towards their customers that I genuinely wonder if they were either trained to be this way, or are mistreated (underpaid or overworked) by the company. The quality of the pastries is just about average and not worth the poor service.

They quite blatantly treat potential customers differently based on appearances and sometimes have turned customers (myself included) away before closing hours despite having plenty of baked goods left to sell. Older and younger staff are equally unfriendly, often directing customers to other lines without explanation.

There are so many good bakeries in the area with friendly and helpful staff (and frankly tastier or better pastries) that I’d rather drive out of my way to one of them than go here again.

The service was terrible. I called ahead and asked for an egg sandwich without pork because I’m allergic to it. When I arrived, I was shocked to find out that my food was prepared with pork. I asked the older lady to make a new order and told her that I had called and requested no pork. With unbelievable rudeness, she told me, “If you don’t want pork, just take it out yourself.”
Wow—such horrible disrespect! I don’t know if this is a restaurant or a place to insult customers. I do not recommend coming here. The service is very bad, especially from the older lady.

Too light & spongy for my taste, but their food is ok. I prefer heavy rich pastries. Their bread tastes great! Their pound cake was heavy buttery American goodness! Their hot dog buns are always scrumptious. I think there is something here for varied tastes and desires. 10/10/20: the offerings were the same. Not much of a rotating choice but tasty. 12/15/21: Nice Christmas atmosphere.

I’ve been going here for years now. I usually go here when I’m craving Taiwan Toast, bbq pork bun, cocktail bun… just to name a few. The place is always well kept and clean. You’re greeted right away upon entering.

I recently tried the mango green tea, and it was delicious
was very refreshing and reasonably priced.

I also tried the mango strawberry pudding. I thought it was so cute in its container. It wasn’t too sweet and very light.

The staff’s attitude was extremely unprofessional and this was honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. On top of that, forcing customers to pay in a specific way is completely unacceptable. If the bill is under $10, you make people pay cash. If it’s over $10, you only allow card. That is not the restaurant’s right to dictate how customers must pay. This policy is frustrating, disrespectful, and needs to be corrected immediately if you expect customers to ever come back.

This store has a super location in the southern part of the Westlake shoping center. There are plenty of parking spots. The parking lot is just about always very busy. It might take time to find a spot on the certain days. The store itself has a very bright light inside. Why would they do that? It is expensive for the store. I guess this lighting can influence customers to spend more time in the store, spend more money, have a higher chance of returning, most likely to recomend to friends just because they feel great in the store. It creates an atmosphere that help customers relax, get comfortable, and excited. Personally, i call it a visual polution that unfortunately make people do or buy something that they would not ordinarily do. The items in this store look very appetizing; however, they contain little to no nutrients. As a result, after eating them, my body, for instance, does not identify any sense of fullness or satiety. Even though all items are very delitious and nice looking, they lead to increased hunger and overeating. Keeping all these in mind i purchased no more than just 2 items at the time. Finally, i did not see any gluten free bakeries in this store. Everyone knows that gluten can cause serious health complications. I wish this store sells at least one or two items that are healthy. If they have them, i haven’t see them yet. Finally, the store service is outstanding, and i will return again to experience the store lighting.
