I didn’t win, but the place was super clean! I loved that there was music — it gave a nice vibe and didn’t feel stiff or quiet like some other places I visit in Marengo, where I’m from.
Michael was very nice and welcoming to everyone.

Walk in and wait at counter for over 5 min. Finally the woman mopping the floor comes up to the register Filthy gloves still on as she touches everything. Says “sorry are you here to eat, most of our customers go in there” pointing to the gaming room. Naturally I’m kinda not thinking I want to even eat here so now I ask.Is the corned beef good? Her unbelievable response “well, It’s not deli style “. Wow big sign says Shelly’s Corned beef. Wasted my time here. Going to a real restaurant now

Thought I’d give this a try since good corned beef sandwiches are pretty far away. The menu was very limited but I just wanted a sandwich. It took about 20 minutes to get a corned beef sandwich with a bag of chips. The sandwich had a few slices of chewy tasteless corned beef on stale rye bread. It was definitely not worth the price I paid and seemed like it would have been appropriate for a middle school cafeteria. I will not be going back.

Alan nailed it. Sandwich was something from a middle school cafeteria. Mine took about 10-12 minutes to make and was thinking this is going to be good. All it took was a couple of slices of corned beef, a slice of cheese, and some spicy mustard sauce on 2 slices of bread. Extremely overpriced and should have cost half of what the price was. Place is clean and nice though. That’s about it. Can’t see them making it through the summer unless something major changes with their food….unless they are banking on those slot machines.

We ordered 2 corned beef sandwiches. After 20 minutes and we were the only customers, we got our food. They were grilled, and greasy, and my husband’s was burnt! How do you serve burnt food? Very little meat on it. Nowhere on the menu does it say grilled. Very disappointing $30 later. Won’t be back!!!!

We recently moved to the area and pass Shelly’s everyday when we’re coming and going and have always wanted to try it. My pregnancy craving led us there today for a Reuben and we were immediately struck by how clean & nice the restaurant is, and greeted by a really friendly staff member who took our order with care and made our food to-go for us. She even gave us each a free cookie as we left! We came home to eat it and found our sandwiches carefully wrapped, in individual boxes with pickles and our choice of chips. The Reuben itself was a 10/10! Clearly panini pressed, perfect propotions/ratios and totally satisfied the craving in a day where I couldn’t bring myself to eat anything else all day. Thank you, Shelly’s! We will be back!

My son and I came in for a quick bite and split their Dynamic Duo. It was delicious! Tastes fresh and service was quick. The man working also threw in a few cookies for us that were just as tasty! Recommend and will be back!
