Cute and cozy speakeasy. Great place to go with friends or close family. Make sure you stick to your reservation time since they have limited seating and plan ahead for parking since they do not have their own parking spots. The staff is fun and nice. I wish they had a bigger food menu since I personally enjoy drinks with food.

If I could do 0/5 that would be suitable. One, no bar service. 2, too pretentious. 3, horrible service. There’s 12 seats at the bar and they won’t do walk up service, only two seats were taken. Trust me, this place gets way too in front of their own way. And it’s not Detroit. This bar should be 3 levels deep with bartenders working hard and servers hustling to wait tables. They lose $$$ every minute they are open. And likely lose first time customers attention real quick. No sound in the vault.

They serve drinks with no coaster. Or napkin.

Vodka cran tasted like potatoes. Too much rosemary. And it’s batch made, no live mixology

They turned away 15 girls at the entrance and there are 22 seats open inside. Outrageous.

Amazing speakeasy in the city! Getting to go inside the old bank vault is so cool and a really great backdrop for a date night or just night out for fancy cocktails with friends. The bartenders are very talented and knowledgeable.

The vibe of the speakeasy was great. Really cozy and the cocktails were good. Had a fun time. Being a speakeasy do not expect food but we took nut mix and a chocolate mousse which was great to finish it off. It was fun to be inside a bank vault.

We had reservations, but we did have to wait about 20 minutes. It was a Saturday night, so it’s understandable. The place is absolutely gorgeous and has a lovely atmosphere. The drinks were delicious, and our server was incredible!

Shelby was an amazing cocktail bar with a super cool theme and atmosphere. The drinks were creative and well-made, and the service was excellent. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Prices were pretty reasonable for the quality and overall experience. Definitely a unique spot worth checking out!

Cool cocktail bar in downtown Detroit! Our bartender “O” was super friendly. Very lowkey / quiet place serving cool drinks. I would say the only thing this place was missing was some background music to make it a better vibe!

Okay so there are a lot of places claiming to be a Speak Easy these days, but most are very well advertised and easy to find which was not the case for speak easy’s.

Shelby really goes back to the original speak easy by having NO signage on the outside of the building, or on the inside for that matter. Even pulling up the details on the place did really stop us from questioning if we were at the right spot or not. Thankfully with a hesitant “is that the correct blue door” we were asked if we had a reservation and was taken in.

Drinks were incredible, but as I had to drive a short distance to our dinner spot for the evening, I only had 2 in the 1.5 hours we were there. That’s okay though, just gives us a reason to go back.

We decided to have the French Onion dip so we weren’t drinking on empty stomachs and it was very good, clearly fresh made and not something from a tub and dressed up.

Out server was incredible, giving a nice detailed description of offerings not on the menu, but more like specials for the weekend.

Be sure to check it out if visiting Detroit.

My wife and I absolutely love this place! The ambiance is incredible and old safe that they’ve turned into an incredible cocktail bar! The drinks were very creative and flavorful and I love on the menu they show you a photo of how each on will look. They do have limited app/dessert items but they are all really tasty and have good flavor. The service was prompt and very helpful. Will definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone who has not gone yet.
