Each time I order from this place I try to give them the benefit of the doubt that they either won’t mess up my order or maybe I’ll get a quality bagel. I’m wrong each and every time. Gave them a break for a while, ordered from them again today for the first time in a while and what I received is not what I ordered. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese and bacon. They send a plain bagel with cream cheese. It also seems like they use whatever cream cheese was left on the knife from the previous order they made and put that little amount onto the next bagel order. Skimping on cream cheese is at a bagel store is horrible. They bagels were never good to begin with they’re tiny and seem like they shrink each time I’m dumb enough to order from them thinking maybe this time it’ll be worth the money. Wish I could say there was a great consistent deli near me in holmdel but unfortunately I can’t but sheepshead is at the bottom of the barrel. Would give 0 stars if I could.

Spent $40 on a dozen bagels at 7:30 in the morning. They just opened so the bagels should be hot and fresh. Not at all. Cold and hard as a rock left over from the day before. What a disappointment. Never again

More of a deli than a bagel shop
FOOD – Bagels were hard very dense and very tough. Early morning visit so they were not old but had a not fresh taste. Very tough. No everything seasoning on top of bagel and a little on the bottom which was strange. Pork roll was sliced nicely. Pork roll was good. Lunch may have been better here.
The toasted bagel was barely toasted. Toasted on the grill, I think they don’t have a toaster which is strange for a bagel place.
SERVICE – service was fine. No other customers so it was quick.
Atmosphere/location – definitely felt more like a deli than a bagel shop. atmosphere was not great it was dark and slow. Right off 35 and easy to get in with plenty of parking.

The best bagel in the area hands down. Has a nice crisp outside and soft inside, the BEC is a masterpiece. Everyone in the shop is super friendly and you feel like you’re part of a family. If you want a bagel that tastes like you got it in Brooklyn hands down this is the place.

Classic Pork roll, egg, and cheese on a bagel. Reduced one star for smaller bagel options, 10 styles or so. Baker’s dozen for $18 is more than fair. Great quality, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Cash only and very limited coffee options. Bring your own travel mug, so hot you might get burned with their cup. Old School Jersey service, great experience.

Made it through the Weekend Shifts on Medic Unit #1201 and especially the Challenges of getting around during New Jerseys first significant snowfall in a number of years!!!
Sue Lowe and I started the shift at one of our most reliable places for Breakfast…

They have been there for everyone for nearly 30 years when they opened..
Sue enjoyed a very delicious Buttered Hard Roll…
Since it was the second day working, I ordered Bacon, Egg, Cheese with sliced Tomatoes and Jalapenos seasoned with SPK on a Toasted Buttered Hard Roll!!!
This place has always been there during harsh storms and produces a high quality sandwich!!!
We were able to sit down inside a warm environment and enjoy our food without interruption…
When getting ready to leave, paying my bill, I asked for one of their long Twisted Sesame Bagels for the journey home after the shift…
Plan to share half of it with Kit Dwight for Breakfast when we make sandwiches!!!
They have always made great food, from their regular offerings to special requests.
This sandwich was on a hero roll, 2 fried eggs, jalapenos, salt, pepper, ketchup and a light touch of hot sauce.
Finally got a sandwich for lunch this past Saturday and it was fabulous!!!

Friendly staff and great service. Must try the make your own omelette with potatoes. Family run business with a very personal feel. I would buy here rather than the chains. This is my local go to breakfast place. However…its cash only. I wish they accepted credit card. I understand the fee is too much but maybe Dan Price can help?

These are the best bagels outside of Brooklyn! The place has been in business since the ’70s and when you try one of bagels you understand why. They have super fresh and really good homemade cream cheese as well as a selection of sandwiches and other goodies. The atmosphere is welcoming and patriotic, and the staff is very friendly and entertaining lol. We love coming here and highly recommend this establishment!
