Shay’s was my first time trying a Philadelphia cheesesteak and I wasn’t disappointed. I got the Philly Special with fries, the cheesesteak was good, just a little on the salty side. Fries were thinner than I prefer, but still fine. Seating was empty when I went, though it definitely feels like more of a takeout spot during rush hours. Overall, solid food.

When you walk in, there is a kiosk there to order your food you don’t talk to anybody , It is pretty pricey at $20 for a cheesesteak and nothing else comes with it is alittle is on the high side in my opinion but there was quite a bit of meat, the building was very cold when we walked in , so we went to the other room that they have to offer , and it was colder in there than the main room, the food was decent but not great also got a side of fries as well they were crispy but had some type of all seasoning on it , decent place but definitely had room for improvement.

Absolutely great spot. My girlfriend and I came here as our first food stop on our trip to Philadelphia and we couldn’t be happier with the cheesesteaks (and fries!). We were initially a little bit verklempt about the price, but seeing the quality of the meat and its taste, it’s well worth it. Service was outstanding and the staff did everything to make us feel at peace. Would happily eat here again given the chance, especially if it means we get to have another bite of the Dream Chaser.

Fantastic philly cheesesteak. They use a really good cheese, high quality meat, and I love the bread. Basically, everything lol. Great service too it was super quick and friendly. Would definitely come back here. Oh, and the shake was good too!

We came here 2 weeks ago I almost forgot to leave a review. 2 weeks later I’m still thinking about these cheesesteaks. They are THAT good. These are delicious flavor bombs! We had the classic and the Philly special. Shay’s Steak is doing it right!!! We also had a great conversation with a gentleman who I believe is the owner? I can’t remember but he was super kind and welcoming. The restaurant itself is clean and efficient. We came from NY for the eagles game. I can’t wait for the next visit to Philly because we will surely be coming here again! (p.s. in comparison to Angelo’s, Shay’s wins!)

I ate here on September 2, 2025. I ordered the Cheesesteak sandwich and onion rings. There was no one in the restaurant. It was completely empty which made me nervous. The staff was friendly and the food came quick and piping hot. It was very good. A little oily but otherwise good. The onion rings were good but could have used some ranch or Chipotle ranch. This is the second best Cheesesteak I have had in Philadelphia, but as of this review, I have only been to 3 establishments. I would recommend.

The restaurant upon walking in was nice and clean and everyone greeted me. They have kiosks to order at or at the counter. Lots of places to sit on stools. The food is phenomenal. I wasn’t sure which to get but love a good filet so I got the dream chaser and I’ll be dreaming about this as it says when I return to Phoenix. Great job!

Shay’s Steaks and More was absolutely worth the stop. Yes, it’s a bit pricey — but the quality makes up for it big time.
I only had about two hours in Philly, so I decided to walk over from Penn Station and randomly picked this spot based on Google reviews. I’m so glad I did. The ribeye cheesesteak was incredible — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
Honestly, it was way better than Geno’s or Pat’s. This is the kind of place you wish you found sooner. If you’re short on time and want a real Philly cheesesteak that delivers, Shay’s is the move.
Would 100% come back next time I’m in Philly.

Excellent experience at Shay’s Steaks. The service was friendly and fast, and the cheesesteak was outstanding – juicy meat, fresh bread, and top-quality ingredients. Definitely one of the best spots in Philadelphia to enjoy a real cheesesteak.
