OK, so this restaurant is off the beaten path and if you’re traveling too fast on Highway 53 you might miss it….. but don’t pass up this quaint country restaurant.
It is definitely worth stopping. They have a limited menu, but the food is excellent! The catfish had the perfect batter just enough to complement the fresh catfish! The hush puppies were light and fluffy. Potato wedges were not overcooked, and the coleslaw was very creamy over all the meal was excellent.!
The service is on point very friendly atmosphere .
I would recommend this restaurant for the young the old and the in-between .

The catfish was good, but nothing special and the French fries were warm but not hot. My wife said her chicken tenders were very good and my son also said that his hamburger was quite good. Overall it was a good experience but I really don’t see what people rave about.

I’ve only been there twice, but I have enjoyed my two experiences there. The staff is very friendly and attentive to the people’s needs as they serve them. However I do believe they should put more fish in the $11 plate because there are only four small pieces in there. I’m sure they could afford to give you a couple of more pieces because they ARE small. I ordered the all you can eat dinner, Catfish, coleslaw, fries, and hush puppies. When they first bring out the fish, there are some decent little chunks in there. The second go around it’s like they give you the Tails of the fish and it’s mostly crust. I had to ask for chunkier fish. I also had to sneak a couple of pieces to my spouse because all she got on her $11 plate was 4 tiny pieces.

Update *** Just like everybody else, The price has gone up from $17 to $20. now for the all you can eat buffet. Drink not included.
Golden Corral here I come. At least I can have Fish, Shrimp, Meatloaf, Pork Chops, Baked or fried Chicken, even Steak… for around $15.oo, unlimited everything, including salads, any way you like it. Lots of deserts too.

And the catfish was bland with no flavor or seasoning really. You didn’t really have any options that only comes with fries. Unless you want to pay extra for a different side! But after paying $20 for bland fish I’m really not inclined to pay for a side. I heard good things about them for years but I was not impressed!☹️ My friend I went with was not impressed either we both thought it was a waste of $20 per person

My husband and I shared the seafood platter. It was very good. The coleslaw is excellent and the stuffed crab was tasty.

We heard a lot of good things about this place over the years. Finally tried it last weekend (Sat). It’s very plain inside, you just walk in and pick a table (if you can find one). Service was okay, if a bit slow. We didn’t try the fried catfish, but I had the baked. It was pretty good. My wife had the fried shrimp in a bun, it wasn’t anything special. Shrimp were of the small frozen variety, not local fresh. Hush puppies were pretty good, Cole Shaw was on the sweet side and VERY wet. Swimming in sauce. Our friends had the fried catfish which looked a bit overcooked for our tastes. Super crunchy with heavy cornmeal coating. The place is a bit pricey, too. It’s unlikely we will return. I know this review is a bit contrary to what others have posted, but I think we just have a higher standard for our fried seafood. We much prefer someplace like Dempsey’s down in Kiln. Much larger menu selection and better quality seafood, and service.

Wife and I ordered whole catfish. When our server brought it to the table, it was barely warm and so we’re the fries and hushpuppies.
We won’t be going back.

This a very nice and family owned restaurant. The catfish is very delicious. You can get either whole catfish or just fillets. Lots of sides to choose from. Get there early, it does get crowded. Highly recommended.

Shaws always feels like coming home. Classic and delicious southern fried catfish with a “they put their foot in it” soul food vibe. We always come back and always will!
