The place is run by a sweet married couple. The wife is the host, and the husband is the chef. She helps as needed, along with the servers. He will come check on customers. If you’re in a large group, he brings out baskets of naan to enjoy with your meal.
You can order from a menu or dine in and enjoy a wide selection of choices, both meat and vegetarian, from the buffet.
The food is prepared the way they eat at home, so all of it is authentic. I suggest trying a little of what looks good before you pack a plate.
I like the goat curry; it’s a spicy dish. If you can’t handle the heat, you can ask for a less spicy portion. This is why Sharmas is the best place for authentic Indian cuisine. They’ll cook the dish in its original style but are happy to alter it for the customer.
I enjoyed a little bit of everything. I had my fill of goat curry, which I mentioned is spicy, and Gulab jamun for my dessert. My wife loves the Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, which is not spicy, and her dessert is the mango pudding.
It’s about $25 per person, but the experience is amazing.
I am a pure vegetarian and the dishes we tried were also vegetarian.
I visited this place for the first time and I absolutely loved the place and food. The owner who is also a main chef was very humble and kind. They really made up feel comfortable. If you are looking for some authentic indian food in west lafayette then this is the place. We tried below dishes:
1. Malai kofta – we asked it to be spicy (6-7 indian spicy level) – the gravy was good spicy and kofta ( cottage cheese and potato balls) we very soft. 5/5
2. Dal bukhara – it was buttery and absolutely delicious. Must try this. 5/5
3. Naan basket- it comes with paneer, garlic and plain naan. The naan was fresh and soft. Very good in taste 5/5
4. Aalo tikki – it wasn’t the usual tikki chaat but the taste was good, a bit soft than crispy but delicious. 4/5
They also gave us complementary samosas and chai which was also very good. Loved the samosas and being a tea lover, i like the chai.
Overall, the experience was great and the service was too good.
Would definitely go back to this place. Finally found good Indian restaurant here.
$20 and im not going lie im from England and love indian food and this is by far the worst I have tasted in America in 10 years
But the food is amazing
Walking to the buffet between the other tables of guest, we grabbed a plate and guessed at what we were eating. Few things were marked, some things looked like onions with veggies but was marked ‘Ranch’ so we filled our plates with different items to try. One side veggie, other side meats.
Regardless the mild to heated pallet of flavor, many items had a dull note but the ‘NaaN’ was delicious. $25 per person for the late night buffet and we only ate one plate a person. If there were more than 5 main items to select from I may have went for a 2nd plate. But flavor-wise, from what I had to choose from, it didn’t reach my level of expectation for a second round of the same items.
Last thing, ‘goat curry’ ‘goat’ in general, has a distinct flavor profile, so to get a large piece of bone with marrow, was overpowering and nearly ended my meal. Being a foodie, I needed to finished what I started.
Will I come back? That depends on if someone else from my grouping is interested in trying this establishment.
My pallet is different than others, so don’t make your choice to try this place based on my opinion. Thank you.
She spoke disrespectfully to people on two other tables. Someone asked her if Pani puri was available and she said “the menu card is in front of you.” When people on another group questioned the bad service (they had ordered food on phone and it wasn’t delivered on time), she refused to accept her mistake and instead yelled at her staff. When pointed out that she’s rude her reply is “do you expect me to hug you?” It’s unbelievable how someone in the service industry can be so mannerless. I’ve worked at a restaurant and i understand that it’s a tough job but nothing warrants such disrespect. She wasn’t rude to us, but I cannot be blind to such awful behaviour. If you have zero self respect, you may enjoy the food. If not, I suggest you drive to Taste of India for better food and service. Also, our roti was burned, potatoes in Pani puri were raw, and Pani of the Pani puri was basically a watered down tamarind chutney. Malai kofta was decent but the woman managed to ruin that with her attitude towards others. Some other friends who live in this area also had similar experience – said she talks excessively sweetly on phone but is extremely rude otherwise.
I hope she learns that not being rude doesn’t mean giving unnecessary hugs. It just means having basic manners and realising that a restaurant exists because of its customers. Else the business will meet its downfall it truly deserves – only a matter of time.
Original review from 2022: Wasn’t expecting such good and authentic Indian food in a small college town, but this place surprised me! The portion size of entrées is big enough for two people. Rotis and naans have butter, so vegans may want to specify their preference. The restaurant was very busy even on a Tuesday evening. There was only one server who did a great job at managing the crowd and giving great service. They call their food ‘medium spicy’ but it’s actually mild for an Indian palate (and my spice tolerance is lower than an average Indian’s). Order a spice level higher if you want something really masaledaar and chatpata.
Presentation was phenomenal.
The paneer Tikka made you want to cry with tears of joy given how perfectly marinated and skewered it was.
All items from samosas to veg Manchurian to tadka dal to paneer Tikka at spice level 6 were perfection personified.

I called to order and didn’t know they weren’t open just yet, they went ahead and let me order a little early. Which was so kind of them as I didn’t have time to wait if they hadn’t have done that for me and I was soo looking forward to their food for dinner today.
