I’ve been coming to this Chinese restaurant for lunch dim sum for a long time. Lately, with rising prices, the menu has gotten noticeably more expensive. On Saturday, I ordered the lunch combination along with a few dim sum items. Overall, the food was tasty.
I tried the lemon chicken, which was a bit too tangy for my taste—others might find it quite sour. I think if the chicken had been brined, the flavors might have blended better. The lemon sauce had a slight floury taste and was a bit thin. It would have been better if the flavors were more balanced.
The meal came with a spring roll and hot and sour soup. The spring roll was slightly undercooked, leaving the wrapper a bit soggy, but the hot and sour soup was delicious.

While the food and service were excellent, the table spacing and noise levels could be improved. During peak hours, the dining area feels quite cramped and the acoustics make it difficult to have a quiet conversation. A bit more room between tables or some sound-absorbing decor would make the atmosphere as perfect as the food.

First time visiting. Everything was freshly prepared and delicious! Right sized portion. Chicken crispy, juicy. Food favorable without being overly salty or seasoned. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere! Authentic flair. You forget you are in West Bloomfield. We enjoyed every minute! Will be back again!

Excellent Chinese restaurant. We came for Din Sum which if you’ve never tried, please do! When I lived in Asia I loved going out for it. Don’t worry about what to order, the menu on the table has pictures which help you know.

We decided to not only having some dim sum items, but also ordered Congee (preserved eggs and porks), salted fish and chicken fried rice, half roasted duck, and spicy quails which all theses 4 ordered items were outstanding. My experience at Shangri-la was great. We were looking for a bit of an upgrade from the normal Chinese cuisine we normally eat. Didn’t want to go full on high end but wanted an upgrade over the quick stop carry-out options we frequent. Shangri-la was just what the doctor ordered. We could tell right away the ingredients are much fresher than we received from our normal go-to restaurant. Food was delivered to our table exceptionally fast. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again. I had the Almond Chicken, my favorite, and the Orange Chicken.

The food is consistent for the 30 years I have been frequenting. I appreciate they are open ALOT! I spend all my holidays there. I would love to see it get an upgrade. I would also like sriracha to be back for the dim sum- the chili oil is great… but would be nice variety again!

Their dim sum is not authentic enough. Portion is small but price is high. A lot of dim sums are getting cold when they arrive the table. It seems they cook them a while ago. Fried rice is the only good food. Business is very good though.

I truly want to like this place but I don’t know I would go back. I was super excited to go because it has been a long time since I’ve gotten to dim sum. As someone who grew up with authentic Asian food, I was quite disappointed with the food. There’s so many restaurants with better food nearby. The food was very greasy, textures were a bit off. The best dish we had was spinach with garlic but it was over $14 for the dish and something we could cook at home with vegetables from 168 Market. The decorations especially the room with dragons on the ceiling was super cool. But that was it. Overall, I would not recommend.
