Great food, fast service even when they are really busy, we got a to go order and it was ready right at the time quoted. It is a small place so it’s tight seating with a quaint patio outside which is nice. Food wise the orange chicken was good, the basil beef was delicious. I also highly recommend the pad thai. It was a little watery but the flavor was outstanding.

I would suggest the daytime managers learn manners and courtesy. I questioned my bill because I was charged full pop for the soup on my lunch meal. The way menu reads it says includes “soup, salad, or spring roll”. So I assumed the meal came with soup and salad OR spring roll. Apparently they meant you have a choice of one of the three items. I politely offered a helpful suggestion about updating their menu to indicate that the meal comes your choice of one of the following: soup, salad, or spring roll. Well apparently my suggestion was not well received. Not only did the manager insult my comprehension of the English language (nevermind she was clearly born in Asia) but made a point to tell me maybe she should consult AI to tell her how to revise the menu? Seriously? I am a good customer and regular patron in this restaurant but after my experience today, I don’t think I will go back. It’s a shame because the food is good. But based upon principle, after the way I was treated, I wouldn’t take my dog in there to pee on the floor. An overall 3 is too generous.

The food, atmosphere and service are wonderful!! I have been going here for many years and everyone is so friendly! The food is always fresh and delicious! To the woman with the menu issues. The menu states very clearly what is included. Soup, Salad or Spring Roll. That means soup or salad or spring roll! If it included Soup and Salad it would say Soup and Salad or Spring Roll! There is no need to consult AI when it was written correctly. I suggest in the future if you are confused about what is included ask before you order.

Love the atmosphere, the service is phenomenal. The food is great, there is room for improvement, but it is still great non the less. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back to eat here again and try other dishes and rolls. I really loved the crab rangoons!

I had the Miami Vice roll, and it was THE BEST sushi I have ever had. I don’t say that lightly, I have traveled to many states and have been out to eat sushi in many restaurants .
Jordan was also an excellent and knowledgeable waitress helping me to avoid gluten at my request. She even brought a gluten free soy sauce to my table and recommended I have the chef drizzle chili sauce on my roll instead of the sauce it normally is drizzled with. Great call Jordan! It was an exceptional experience at Shanghai Cottage. Happy New Year!
