Probably the most disappointing Chinese food I’ve ever experienced – we got two combination plates with sweet and sour chicken/garlic chicken and sweet and sour pork/peppers beef. It was outside the garlic chicken- horrible. The chicken was overcooked and tough, the pork small and sad as if they scraped the bottom of the bin to give us what was left. The peppered beef was slimy and more sauce and vegetables than beef. Almost like a terrible Asian stew The fried rice was just yellow rice with bland flavor. Only the soup was good. In fact the soup was the star of the entire sad show.

I kid you not, it was a MASSIVE disappointment and whoever is leaving these 5 star reviews should have their accounts banned. I’m telling you guys- be forewarned. By far the worst $34 I ever spent!

Been back to Shang Hai several times now. They continue to do a great job. Party of 3 on a Sunday. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Food came out nice and hot. Price is still quite nice and once again there was enough food for another meal.

Hadn’t been here since new owners took over years ago. Very pleased with experience. Party of 5 with Fried Rice Combo, Sesame Chicken, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Hunan Pork and Chicken. All rated very good. Fried Rice is one of best we’ve had in years. Lite background music and some Chinese shows on the TV screens added to experience. Service was fine and no issues arose. Everybody had enough leftovers for another meal. Excellent value for the price. Will certainly be back.

Ordered the 5 spice shrimp and got 8 friend shrimp with 3lbs of onions. I usually get this dish and it’s decent, dude went crazy with the onions today. Makes me wonder what they’re trying to hide with all those onions. Dissatisfied

The food was delicious and very authentic. As Chinese diners, we were really happy with the flavors and quality — everything tasted just right and well prepared.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for real Chinese food. We will definitely come back!

8/24/23 A Delightful Family Meal. We recently dined at Shang-Hi Restaurant and had a fantastic experience. Although we were initially skeptical since it was our first visit, the food exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is clean, and the restrooms are well-maintained—kudos to the staff and management.
We tried a variety of dishes, including egg drop soup, egg rolls, General Tso’s chicken, pepper steak, and sweet and sour pork. Everyone was pleased and full with their choices. The server was nice and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed.Overall, it was a delightful meal with the family, and we look forward to returning. Highly recommended!

Just got off the phone with a very rude employee @ 515pm on Dec.16,2025. Ordered a child’s plate with sides to which I asked if it came with side, she replied no it’s extra. I then proceeded to order a second meal, which was also a child’s meal, to which she then ask what sides I wanted for it. To my shock she was going to charge me extra for the first child’s plate but the the second. I then repeat now, for a third time, and ask why did the first child’s plate not come with sides? She stated “You didn’t say it was a children’s plate”…..my wife standing next to me, stated in a voice so the employee could hear that I mentioned it multiple times with a confirmation.

In summary the employee was unaware of their own menu, called a customer a liar when the employee was wrong, used gaslighting techniques, unprofessional and rude the entire time on the phone.

I understand rough days, as a veteran I get it. However, the black of integrity and passing blame is not becoming of an establishment that supports veterans and first responders. That alone warrants my additional time for this review. I do not recommend anyone to go to this restaurant as if this is how they treat customers on the phone, what is happening in the kitchen.

Retrain your employee or find one better to answer the phone.

Restaurant was very clean and well laid out. Food was excellent served hot and fresh. Wonton soup was very good!

Lunch menu more than enough options to choose from all ranging from $9 to $9.50 per plate.

Service was very good even though the waitress did not speak a lot of English.

For the price, I’d not recommend eating here.
I’d rate it one star, but the egg drop soup was good. The crabmeat rangoons were good to me but there was no crabmeat. The entree of lemon chicken…it was extremely greasy, and in some spots I couldn’t tell if it was overcooked or undercooked and it was stringy.

UPDATE: Here I am 8 months later and this place is still fantastic. I haven’t been coming here often enough! Same prices, same friendly people and heaps of great food.
I just found this place and I wish I found it sooner!! Only had the sweet-and-sour chicken with fried rice and wonton soup… All was delicious. Eventually, I will probably try everything on the menu. The best part was the price of the meal and drink, under $14. It’s hard to find a good sit down meal anywhere for that! This is NOT buffet style however, the food is similar to what you find in those restaurants, but better quality. No sushi, just hot meals! I shall return.

It had been several years since my last visit here. I quit working in the area and had not been back since.

Excellent Sesame Chicken, good sized portions. Battery was crispy and had lots of flavor. Food came out almost too hot to eat, straight from the kitchen.

Lunch special was cheap, and included crab rangoons or egg roll, and soup.

Service was fast, waiters and waitresses both came by to refill drinks multiple times. Wait staff worked all tables, not just specific ones.

Lunch menu had a large selection of items. Also offered is an early dinner special, which ia the same as lunch but between 4:30 and 6.

I’ll definitely return for the sesame chicken, and to try some more of the items. Excellent service and food.
