There really is a Shane! Family. Hard work. Darn-good BBQ. That’s what Shane Thompson built his business around. In 2002, Shane ditched his corporate job, tossed his tie and followed a dream with his wife, Stacey. He dusted off his grandfather Big Dad’s secret BBQ recipe and opened up the very first Shack in McDonough, GA. It wasn’t long before the community noticed how he always gives people more than what they pay for and treats everybody like family. Oh, and making the best BBQ around helped, too.

Dying here on a Sunday evening. Business was very slow, but the staff was attentive and provided good service. Restaurant was pretty clean other than the floor being sticky around the sauces and soda machine. A minor inconvenience. Tables were clean and it was comfortable. We both had the park plate and it was very good. Food was hot and tasted delicious. Unsure why there are so many complaints about the food being cold and dry, that was not our experience at all.

Went in st 11:20 am on 11/6. Stood at rhe counter for 15 minutes no one came up to help. After a few minutes the Assistant General Manager came up and saw a line of 5 people that had formed. I was first. She asked if anyone in line had placed a large order this morning and two people stated they had, she asked if anyone was door dash amd a lady stated she was. She the masked me if i minded waiting, the assumption being she was going to bring the food pit for the orders. I said no problem. I stepped to the side and she took the order of the last man that had walked in and told him it would be about 20 minutes. Then she disappeared to the back. She came back up a few minutes later with a to go order. She still didn’t tale my order. They were late fulfilling the esrlier orders, which can happen, but they didn’t communicate with the customers on those orders that they were going to be late. Telling everyone that walked a sob story about having to fulfill teo orders that they had received. They weren’t prepared when the day opened. Im not sure why the Assistant GM skipped me to start with. There is no good reason it took them 15-20 minutes to have anyone up front to acknowledge their guests, especially if an “assistsnt GM” is the one working the front. Instead of apologizing she stated she told me it would he a wait, after standing there about 15 minutes already. No concern for the guests at, she just kept throwing her title out there and saying repeatley “that’s the life if and assistant GM.” Liek that means anything to the ever-growing crowd in the front. As I sit here typing this up, three or fpur more giest have just come and left without ordering. Not a great guest experience at all.

I decided to try their wings. Very disappointing. The wings were lukewarm at best. They had very little smoke flavor. The skin was very wiggly and difficult to chew. My wife had the BBQ pork and she was not happy with food either. Said it just did not taste very good. We’ve eaten here before and we’re satisfied with our food.

Horrible food, bad service, nasty restaurant. Service is nasty as well. This is literally the worst bbq in the Carolinas. Every single time I’ve come to this place it’s in no way busy. It should and most likely will close or be sold. Definitely at least this location. It’s obvious when a restaurant is in this kind of shape. I just live so close and wish it was a closer place to get better service and bbq. Now that place in fort mill. I think it’s called blue smoke. That’s great bbq, restaurant always packed with people have a great time. The portions that you get are huge. Heck I’d take Sonny’s bbq over this mud. No flavor, cold restaurant. Yes the restaurant is always cold because nobody is ever eating at this place outside of 3 people at a time. Won’t be long.. every time I’ve tried to give this place a try over the years it’s just been horrible. You know that old saying? Never eat at an empty restaurant. Do better!

They have the closest to the type of BBQ, to my hometown of Memphis TN. This is the only place that is very similar to what I was raised up on. Their proportions are huge! The pork sandwiches are a huge 2 hander! The place is always clean, even at their peak hours. The staff is always welcoming and very attentive to the customers. They have a huge selection of food, and the best homemade peach cobbler that I’ve ever tasted, almost like Grandma’s recipe. The location in Newport SC is my fave location. I would say a 10 out of 10 stars..

Ordered in the app on the fly, driving by because I loved the BBQ here in the past. Happened to see a wing Wednesday deal so I ordered it. 6 wings, fries and a drink for 6.00. App said it would be ready in 5 min. So I went in. She checked me in but after a few minutes she checked on it and said my order was lost or mixed up so they were making it now. She was great in figuring that out quickly. Food came out quickly. Everything tastes good overall. I probably would not order fries as a side again, they weren’t my favorite. Boneless Wings are a good size, which doesn’t happen a lot of places. I did order half hot honey buffalo and half parmesan but only got the hot honey buffalo. No biggie, I just kinda felt like trying both. Only complaint would be sticky and dirty looking floors. And I wish the boneless wings were covered in the sauce more. Some parts had none.

Food was great as always but my 25 boneless wings were not in the bag and I didn’t realize till I got home 20 minutes away. Yes, the lady at the counter assured me everything was there. Tried calling the store REPEATEDLY for 20 minutes but no answer. Spending $82 and not getting all my food can be a mistake, not answering the phone is not acceptable.

Their grilled Chicken is the best!! Ribs are not fall off the bone at all, and flavor is good, but does have room for improvement. Needs to cook the ribs much, much more to get the meat softer. Their original sauce is incredibly great.

My first time eating at a Shane’s rib Shack and I must say, that mustard bbq sauce is delicious! The ribs and macaroni were really good. The baked beans were tasty and the green beans were ok. The service was great and fast.

I ordered at 6:14pm they waited til after 6:30 to tell me that they were out of Cobbler and it would be another 30 min. When my order was supposed to be ready at 6:34pm. I wait the 30 min go back in to ask if my order is ready, its not. Waiting another 10-15 min… RIDICULOUS especially after spending almost $100.
