Shan Shui’s first restaurant opened in 2018, drawing its inspiration from Shanghai in the 1920s when it used to be the place to be for art, architecture, dance halls and glitzy restaurants. Our Shan Shui experience is reminiscent of Old Shanghai, where female celebrities had poise and impeccable fashion sense.
The menu is curated to showcase the gastronomic delights of China and Southeast Asia. Its cocktail selection is crafted with Old Shanghai speakeasies in mind: old-timey classic mainstays are accompanied by fresh, inventive concoctions. Shan Shui, Terminal 2 overlooks the runway and has its own private observation deck.

My colleague and I visited Shan Shui Restaurant for lunch and were warmly welcomed by the host. We were then served by Steven, our waiter, who was extremely friendly and helpful. He recommended a few dishes, and we decided to order what he suggested—and we were not disappointed. The food and drinks were excellent, and all the staff were kind and welcoming. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and overall experience. I highly recommend everyone to visit this restaurant.

My son and I had lunch here while waiting for our delayed flight. The restaurant is airy and bright, with décor that we immediately loved.
The food was good overall. Portions were smaller than what we would get in London but the quality was solid. I had the fried beef vermicelli which was delicious and my son had the chicken curry with jasmine rice, which he enjoyed. We shared the dumplings – while those were tasty, I didn’t enjoy the Mala infused sauce.
Pricing was comparable to dining in London, so no surprises there.
We particularly appreciated the attentiveness of the staff, who checked for food allergies and thoughtfully recommended dishes for us to try.
The restaurant is halal certified – so something good for Muslim travelers to note.

I was greeted very warmly by the staff. I ordered my all-time favorite chicken vermicelli and sat at the bar. A staff member named Ivo was really friendly and recommended some drinks for me. He even made a special chili oil to go with the vermicelli, and it tasted amazing. He definitely deserves a compliment! I’ll definitely come back when I’m back in T2 again. For the picture wise, I’m just too full. Food was great.

Price / Value for Money – Very good
Compared to all other options in Terminal 2, this was the best place for eating, drinking, and spending time before a flight. Prices are lower than other places in the terminal, with a huge menu and very good quality.
Tip – If you like sweet cocktails, try the Lychee Martini or Shanghai Prohibition. Both are well balanced with a light vodka taste.
✅ Would I Recommend? Yes, absolutely

We had a lovely meal here. Dim sum, Indonesian Fried Rice with chicken satay, and Jasmine tea. The atmosphere is relaxing. And the staff is on point.

Wonderful Dim Sum!!! We had an incredibly good meal of vegetarian Dim Sum at 10am. So so delicious and fresh! Great service, nice dining area, no wait, and every bit as good as any Dim Sum we’ve had in NYC and London Chinatowns.

Shan Shui Chinese Kitchen at Heathrow offers a surprisingly calm and quiet atmosphere compared to the usual airport rush, making it a pleasant spot to relax before a flight. The service is fast and friendly, and while some dishes were a little dry, the overall quality is decent with standard airport pricing. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the beef in black bean sauce stands out as particularly tasty, making it a reliable choice for a quick and comfortable meal.

Lovely staff.
Delicious Halal food.
Portions could be generous but that’s the only complaint.

Just had a very pleasant experience at Shan Shui, not something I expected to say from a Heathrow Airport takeaway service. The lady at the counter graciously talked me through my order and helped me select a bubble tea with the exact amount of sweetness I wanted. I was warned that the crispy crab bao would take 20 minutes so I took a seat on a bench nearby and was unexpectedly brought my order less than 10 minutes later. Given all the other options for a bite to eat and a drink I am delighted to have had the opportunity to choose here.

Found my favorite asian place at Heathrow. Tried Singaporean laksa and did not disappoint. Service was excellent. Liang was very attentive, friendly and made sure everything was perfect. Would definitely come here again for a nice pre-flight meal.
