Apparently this is a Nigiri roll I had to look back at the menu to make sure I ordered the right thing lol never again. It was literally rice and cucumbers y’all save y’all money stay away from “Shitty’s Seafood Restaurant” because what was that?
I must commend the customer service offered, had one minor hiccup but it was corrected in a timely fashion. The taste was great, however, I’d advise cutting back on the quantity of salt added to the dish.
I did take out, so, overall I’ll give it an 8.5/10.
Overall a disappointing experience at this restaurant. Had high hopes for it. I know when they opened recently there was some teething issues. However, that phase is over.
I’ll break down our experience.
1. Service – Service was excellent, I can’t remember the waitress name but she was great, fun and had a pleasant personality. She helped to explain some menu items and was always checking up on us. 10/10. She even was apologetic when the food issues start rolling. Thank you miss for saving this review.
2. Wait times – wait times should be added to the menu and/or indicated by your server. While our dishes took a while, the issue was that the order of which the dishes came was puzzling. For instance: we ordered a seafood boil, fish and chips and lobster meal. Fish and chips came 45 minutes after all the dishes. How? The idea is that you try to serve all the main courses at the same time. The person who ordered the fish and chips was left waiting – not to mention it’s bloody fish and chips, how long does that take? Especially considering you prepared a lobster and an entire seafood boil which in theory should take longer. Unacceptable.
Food – as mentioned we ordered: Fish and Chips, A seafood Boil (can’t remember the name, maybe it was the Kaietur something) and lobster meal.
Fish and Chips – nothing special, it was adequate and tasted fine. Had to wait a long time to receive this dish (see above)
Lobster meal – excellent, was great, tasted fresh and was bouncy, not too chewy either and had a great flavor.
Seafood boil – overall the flavor was great, a nice Cajun blast of spices and aromas. All the items in the boil (potatoes, lobster, shrimp, crawfish etc) was done to perfection EXCEPT the king crab. The king crab looked like snow crab (will come back to this later) and had a very chewy soft texture to the shell, as if it’s been in the freezer for a super long time. It tasted bad, and old. This crab was ordered and stored a while ago, the fact that the shell was soft to the touch indicates that. Another issue is the misleading name (King Crab) now by default King Crab is typically associated with American king crab. This is NOT that, this is more similar to snow crab. I believe that it’s Suriname king crab or something of the sort. Anyway, we requested that we get a new portion of crab given that was not fresh and tasted old and chewy.
The manager on deck couldn’t give 2 craps about our request. If you don’t wanna replace then exclude it from the bill. I’d even ask him to try the crab, I’m sure he wouldn’t be able to stomach it. I should have done that.
We paid and left, and called another manager/owner and told him our experience. He promptly provided us a replacement meal the next day.
Look, your management team needs to listen to customers. If we say something is not right, believe it, try the dish for yourself if you think we are lying, don’t just dismiss the complaint, at the end of the day we are paying for proper food, so give us that, when you do this there’s no need for a replacement dish the next day.
Sincerely disappointed, will not return.
Sad to say this establishment has moved for 80% satisfaction to a mere 5% in my opinion. Generally the food was good in the beginning but now it’s the opposite.
See below encounter.
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon where I attended the graduation ceremony of my eldest daughter and having dinner on my mind Shally’s Seafood popped up and since we didn’t visit in a while we decided on it.
To avoid the wait, my wife preorder and my family and two other guests per our invite showed up, their first time there.
After we arrived, we seat ourselves in front at a large table to accommodate 7 persons. We were then shifted to another seat because two persons were occupying the table next to ours (not sure why), basically insisting that we sit in two separate tables to accommodate all 7. After a short while, the pepper pawns were served which I should say right now was the only good thing that evening.
The two persons from earlier left so we asked to be shifted back to the front so we can sit together especially since we sharing dishes.
A few more items came, the Alfredo pasta with no taste, the wanton which seemed to be fried in what we call rancid oil, the grilled snapper which happened to be pan seared red snapper, chicken wings that only has a flavor of mustard and no strip chicken fried rice. After inquiring about the fried rice we we told it’s not on the order so we now had to order despite it showing up on the phone order online. We waited as though we were begging for some food. During this time, I took the opportunity to go to the counted and politely provide a feedback on the snapper and the order which basically resulted in an acknowledgement from the owner Mr Ali.
Boom the fried rice came, only to find a dead fly in it. We returned it to the counter and asked for the bill.
We got the bill and was told that Mr Ali said he remover the fried rice from the bill, no apology, no discount, no nothing.
Feeling embarrassed that invited others out and can’t provide food, I could only pay my bill and leave. Never again for me, my family or my invitees.
What stood out most was the rastafarian who seems to be some kind of back staff walked through the restaurant and said good night to every table.
We had fish and plantain fries and oh my god the fish was so rank, stale and smelly idk how long it was frozen for. The shrimp wonton was fry in rancid oil
Also had a crawfish boil with sausages
How they took the sausage out of the pack that’s how they dump it in the boil didnt even cooked it
It was our first time and very excited to try the food but im very disappointed
Also ask to speak to manger only to be told she’s sorry and cant do anything.
Won’t be dinning there ever again
