Next time I will take more pictures from this place because is worth it. The inside atmosphere is very cozy one of the best sushi places I was in my area. The patio outside is a big plus and The atmosphere of this place is at a very high level. Food has great tests and stuff is great. Going here with a group of friends will give you a chance to taste more from a big menu they have. I recommend

We’re new to the neighborhood, and what a lovely find this restaurant is! We enjoyed every single dish we ordered and loved our dinner from start to finish. Our server was such a kind and attentive lady—when we ordered broth noodles for our daughter, she thoughtfully double-checked with us about the fish broth, which we really appreciated.

The peach punch was refreshing and delicious, and everything we tried—the fish tacos, bulgogi sliders, and fire crunch roll—was outstanding. We honestly can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed the food. I’m already excited to come back and try more from the menu!
Regretting to not take pictures of the food!

The food was delicious and I highly recommend the egg rolls and the dragon rolls. Two things I wasn’t thrilled with. Initially they placed me by the window which was extremely cold. Another party was placed there and also asked to be moved. I would either find a way to insulate or not seat anyone near the windows in cold weather. The other issue was the valet. I handed my ticket and tipped the valet $5 and he handed me my ticket and pointed to my car across the street. I don’t expect you to bring it across but at least start my car so it’s warm. What did I tip for? I would definitely go back but I’d be specific about seating and I’d park my own car.

Food was average to good. My Bulgogi was a bit dry and lacked flavor. The Teriyaki, Tempura and the roll were all good. The portions were plenty. Drinks were good. The service was extremely slow. At least you can pay online, which saved us some time.

I’ve been a longtime regular at Shakou Park Ridge. We’ve dined here more times than I can count. Last night ended that relationship permanently. I will never be back.

We had a 5:30 PM reservation and didn’t receive our first food until 6:30. One full hour of waiting after being seated. From there, the night spiraled.

My entrée was made incorrectly and sent back. While my wife ate, I sat there waiting. When my food returned, it was ice cold. It then took another 20 minutes for the waitress to check on us—because she was the only server in the entire restaurant. That alone tells you how poorly this place is being run.

I made it clear I didn’t want to wait forever again. I was promised it would be quick. That promise turned into another 30-minute wait. By the time I finally received a hot plate, my wife was completely finished eating. I ate alone while she watched. That is unacceptable at any restaurant.

The food didn’t taste like it normally does, despite this being a dish I’ve ordered many times before. The drinks were just as bad—watered down with virtually no alcohol.

To top it off, I woke up around midnight running to the bathroom feeling absolutely awful after this meal. That was the final straw.

Yes, they comped my entrée—but that does nothing to make up for waiting nearly an hour and a half for a correct meal, or turning a simple 5:30 reservation into a slow, frustrating two-hour ordeal.

What’s impossible to ignore is that every visit brings new management and new waitstaff. Constant turnover like that doesn’t happen by accident. If employees can’t stick around longer than a couple of weeks, it speaks volumes—and it shows clearly in the service, timing, and food quality.

One night was enough to erase years of loyalty. Other Shakou locations seem capable of running a restaurant. Park Ridge is not.

If you’re considering dining here, think very carefully. This location has gone downhill fast, and they lost a regular customer for good

Shakou is hands-down my favorite spot for modern Asian cuisine—every single visit feels like a celebration! The moment you step into their stunning, dimly lit space with its sleek bamboo accents and vibrant energy, you’re greeted like family by the warm, attentive staff who somehow make you feel like a regular even on your first time. The sushi is next-level: impeccably fresh fish, creative rolls that explode with flavor (the Black Widow and Dragon’s Breath are absolute masterpieces), and perfectly seasoned rice that holds together like it was crafted by sushi gods. Pair that with their insane craft cocktails—the yuzu margarita is dangerously drinkable—and you’ve got a night you’ll be texting your friends about at 2 a.m. Whether it’s date night, girls’ night, or just treating yourself, Shakou never misses. Five stars isn’t enough—I’d give them ten if I could!
