The peach punch was refreshing and delicious, and everything we tried—the fish tacos, bulgogi sliders, and fire crunch roll—was outstanding. We honestly can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed the food. I’m already excited to come back and try more from the menu!
Regretting to not take pictures of the food!
We had a 5:30 PM reservation and didn’t receive our first food until 6:30. One full hour of waiting after being seated. From there, the night spiraled.
My entrée was made incorrectly and sent back. While my wife ate, I sat there waiting. When my food returned, it was ice cold. It then took another 20 minutes for the waitress to check on us—because she was the only server in the entire restaurant. That alone tells you how poorly this place is being run.
I made it clear I didn’t want to wait forever again. I was promised it would be quick. That promise turned into another 30-minute wait. By the time I finally received a hot plate, my wife was completely finished eating. I ate alone while she watched. That is unacceptable at any restaurant.
The food didn’t taste like it normally does, despite this being a dish I’ve ordered many times before. The drinks were just as bad—watered down with virtually no alcohol.
To top it off, I woke up around midnight running to the bathroom feeling absolutely awful after this meal. That was the final straw.
Yes, they comped my entrée—but that does nothing to make up for waiting nearly an hour and a half for a correct meal, or turning a simple 5:30 reservation into a slow, frustrating two-hour ordeal.
What’s impossible to ignore is that every visit brings new management and new waitstaff. Constant turnover like that doesn’t happen by accident. If employees can’t stick around longer than a couple of weeks, it speaks volumes—and it shows clearly in the service, timing, and food quality.
One night was enough to erase years of loyalty. Other Shakou locations seem capable of running a restaurant. Park Ridge is not.
If you’re considering dining here, think very carefully. This location has gone downhill fast, and they lost a regular customer for good
