Over all the food was great! We made a reservation for 8 pm . The service was very slow . We didn’t leave til almost 10 pm. I think we saw our waitress 3 times total . The one issue I had was our volcano roll came almost 15-20 mins after my original rolls had come out and was almost done with them. I would rather know it was going to be awhile for the specific one. Overall food was good but service times could be way better .

My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time last week, and we absolutely loved it. The food was truly amazing and every thing we ordered was delicious and beautifully prepared. The spring rolls were a standout for us and are a must-try. You can really tell a lot of care goes into the ingredients and presentation.
Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. It made the entire experience feel relaxed and enjoyable.
I also really loved the atmosphere. It was warm, inviting, and had the perfect vibe for a date night. It felt special without being stuffy. We’re already talking about coming back again soon because this place is now one of our favorites.

Modern pan Asian sushi. I didn’t think the sushi sashimi were outstanding but it was fresh and good.
Service was polite and prompt. Food came out quickly for a busy restaurants.

We choose Shakou for our dinner out this week. We had not been here before but the menu looked amazing & it did not disappoint. We had made a reservation for Thursday at 6 but there was plenty of seating at this time. Our server was prompt & helpful, directing me to this amazing Pear martini. Our food came quickly & was so delicious! I like that their menu indicates spicy, raw fish & GF – so helpful. I look forward to trying more dishes on the menu! My only ‘thing’ was the atmosphere- high top tables in the bar – chairs were back to back, no room to move. Music was very loud but okay & there were many families with kids coming in all night. ❌️

My wife and I went to shakou for Easter dinner. Had a wonderful time! Great environment, terrific food and our waitress was outstanding. This is a fantastic place to have a great drink and delicious food, not to mention the and customer services was a cut above the rest. As soon as we enter the restaurant, the hostesses were fantastic… welcoming, smiling and inviting. What made the evening even better was our waitress, Nattaya. She was terrific, very professional, provided great recommendations for food and provided outstanding customer service. We will definitely be going back, as well as bringing our friends. Outstanding drinks. Extremely good pours.

I’m visiting my Mom, and we always pick a new place to go. Mom chose here.
Nice, clean, bright interior with dining and bar seating. We started with Gyoza and Crab Cakes with a mango puree.
The Gyoza were light and flavorful with a ponzu dipping sauce. They were a great start to a meal. Crab cakes were dynamite, but a different sauce would have been better. Sweet Crab, sweet sauce… a touch too sweet.
Mom had Chicken Katsu with sweet chili dipping sauce – crisp, juicy, plentiful, and the sauce was great – not too sweet, not too spicy.
I got the Kyu 9 piece sushi, chef choice, and a spicy scallop roll. Fantastic. Best sushi I’ve had in a while.
I finished with Pyramid – chocolate mousse with praline crisp filling and mom got Chocolate Lava Cake a la Mode (vanilla ice cream).
Zolo, our tabletender, was killer. Never had to look for her, always had what I wanted, and she made a great meal even better. I’ve often said good food with great service makes a great meal. Great food with great service makes a must go back again place.
Here’s the Breakdown:
Great food in a pretty dining space with Zolo taking care of us +5 stars.
I will, for sure, go back.

I ordered the teriyaki salmon, and I honestly don’t understand how anyone can eat this. I was very hungry and managed to eat half the salmon, but the rest was just an oily, mushy mess. Way too much grease, and the texture was completely off.

We were regulars at Shakou in Park Ridge and we recently moved to Arlington Heights and decided to try the Shakou here. The food was good as expected. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t so good. Our server was frantic and in a rush. He seemed annoyed when my wife had a couple of questions and he kept leaving and coming back. We had soup and our empty bowls sat on the table for almost 30 minutes and were cleared until our main course came. It took 20 minutes to get my hot tea refilled after asking and another 15 minutes the next time. No one asked how our meal was, no one refilled water and we had to ask for refills for tea.

Another fancy place refusing to hand out menu’s. The food was good so kudos to the chef. The portions were small and the plates smaller so it was impossible to cut the steak without the veggies falling on the table. What’s that about? The atmosphere has gone downhill. Was beautiful and classy now it seemed like a very expensive diner, unless you eat outside that looked cute. I’d order the food and eat at home, skip the bad service and fees. Either way it’s like you ordering take out with no menu to give you the full restaurant experience. I know im old fashioned but I look at my phone and computers all day, I prefer to be present in the moment when I dine out but even the bar menu was a qr code. They had 3 receptionists… have one of them write out a menu while the chat at the podium.

We had a date night at Shakou yesterday
Atmosphere is spectacular.
Food is good. A little pricey but it worth it.
We got:
– Black Widow roll
(scallop roll comes with a black rice) $22
– Lobster roll (serving is beautiful) – $26
– glass of the white wine
Overall: would highly recommend going here for an occasion not for take out.
