We recently visited the Shahi Chat food truck, located in the parking lot with outdoor seating available. While my experience had its ups and downs, I would rate it an average of 3 stars.

The highlights of our visit were the bhel puri and paani puri, which were decent in taste. However, I must admit that they fell short of my expectations. The flavors were not as vibrant as I had hoped, and the overall quality of the food left something to be desired. If you are from Mumbai and has high high standards for street food like pani puri, this won’t dazzle you.

On a positive note, they offered complimentary Shahi chai. The chai was enjoyable and provided a comforting touch to our meal. Kudos to the team for this gesture of goodwill.

One aspect that disappointed me was the pricing. The prices at Shahi Chat food truck were quite high considering the quality of the food. I expected more value for the amount I paid, and unfortunately, it didn’t quite match up.

As for the ambiance, the food truck’s outdoor seating was a pleasant option. It offered a casual and relaxed setting to enjoy the meal. However, the overall experience was hindered by the average quality of the food. Bon appétit!

This food truck offers street-style Indian chaat, but the dishes tend to be quite oily, and the chole was overly salty. On a positive note, the service was fast. However, parking options are limited with only a few spots available next to the truck.

Amazing food!!! The Dahi puri was delicious and the Sahi Veg Thali was flavorful. The paneer was soft and creamy.
The prices are very reasonable and it’s open until late. You will definitely get the street food vibe. Overall a good experience, I’ll be back!

One of the best chhole bhature in bay area. Bhature were perfectly crispy, light, and fluffy. Dahi papdi Chaat had amazingly tasting chutney enhancing the flavor. They offer complementary chai which was quite tasty as well. Even seating area was quite nice, better than most other food truck places.

I have been wanting to try this food truck in a while. Everytime I am on a walk I would pass by the truck and It’d be closed but today was the day.

Ordered shahi chai and osmania biscuits. Both excellent. The owner was extremely sweet to offer us free paneer pakodas. It was so tasty that we ended up ordering shahi stuffed kulcha and amritsari kulche chole which she packed neatly for takeout.

Honestly I liked everything. I will definitely be going back.

I remember going to the previous Sunnyvale location sometime back. Back then, the Pani Puri was decent and the service was good.

I visited the place recently and had pani puri. I didn’t like the taste at all!

– Most of the flavors were pretty bad: The only decent flavor was Mint. Kaala Katta, Khatta Meeta, Pomegranate and Mango tasted pretty bland.

– They literally add the smallest amount of filling possible. Like the smallest piece of Aloo/Onion/Channa inside the puri.

– Pani was very cold: I’m not looking for perfect room temperature, but it was way too cold in my option.

– The Puri was way too crispy for me. Kinda felt odd after a point.

No onion/cilantro on the side either.

Disappointing overall!

Authentic Chaat at Chaat prices. Incredible food truck off El Camino Real that packs an absolute punch. I had the:

Pani Puri – a Fun DIY experience; the pani is a banger

Dahi Sev Puri – flavor explosion

Chana Bhatura – this was absolutely insane. Authentic flavors that transport you to the subcontinent itself. You can hear the rickshaw honks with each bite.

A great job by a new, up and coming food truck – I’ll definitely be back with family and friends to show them this new gem. Open late!

Food was on the sweeter side overall including the chai. Service can be faster but it’s understandable as they seem to cook from scratch and are limited on staff. We ordered Bhel, Papdi Chat and Stuffed Kulcha. The first two were ok nothing to write home about but stuffed Kulcha was a joke. Literally two burger buns dipped in sweet chutney and some chana stuffing. Not sure if they ran out of kulchas or I ended up getting a Punjabi dabeli.. did not at all meet expectations.

Food was not very good but the prices are extremely reasonable and the folks running the truck are super nice. We ordered the shahi thali which came with shahi paneer, dal makhani, rice and naan for 9.99. Pretty good deal in this economy but the flavors were pretty basic and the shahi paneer was very oily. We also got the chana bhatura – the bhatura was nice but the chana was not good: lacked salt and just tasted of raw onion and garlic.

They’re just starting out so it’s worth giving it another chance, but there was major room for improvement this time.

I recently visited this food truck and ordered “Channa Poori”. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The Channa Poori was drenched in oil, both inside and out. When I raised my concerns with the employees, I was told that it is deep-fried and, therefore, the oil is to be expected.

When I mentioned that the excessive oil was unhealthy and questioned why they didn’t make it properly, the staff rudely responded that I didn’t understand how deep-fried food is made. They insisted there was no other way to prepare it. Additionally, the employees did not have the courtesy to say they would look into it or try to improve.

Moreover, the poori had too much soda/lime and all-purpose flour, which is not how it should be made if following a traditional Indian recipe. If they are making a fusion version, they should either change the name or clearly mention it, instead of misleading customers about serving a famous Indian delicacy. I’m not a cook, but as a fan of Indian food and poori, I can surely say that this was not even close to the actual dish.

I couldn’t consume the poori due to the excessive oil and lack of hygiene. I would not recommend this food truck to anyone looking for a decent meal. The quality of the food and the attitude of the employees were both unacceptable.
