This is my absolute favorite place to go in Athens. In fact we drive from Belpre to Athens 2-3 times a month just to eat here. They have the best wings hands down that we have ever eaten period. The Spinach Artichoke dip with pita bread is DELICIOUS! The French Onion Soup is SO Good! The Cheese burger, which is what I got the last time with garlic fries was definitely a winner. The pizza is extremely flavorful and amazing BUT my favorite and go to meal is by far the Funky Chicken Salad! YUUUUM!!! I get dill pickle juice to serve as my salad dressing. Sometimes I will even bring my own microgreens and add them to my dishes. Also, the service is ALWAYS Amazing! We love the staff there. They truly make it such an inviting and enjoyable place to actually want to be. Not one single bad thing to say about this place. We HIGHLY recommend it!!!

I always stop when I’m in Athens, which is usually every month or two. Food is always good! I appreciate how many things are freshly prepared and homemade. The Caesar and Italian salads are fantastic! Actually, the Caesar is one of the best out there! Fries too! Fresh cut and perfectly browned!
Service can be slow sometimes, but the servers are always friendly and make an effort.
The place always seems clean and well kept, even the bathrooms.
We like to go during off hours (early-mid afternoon) to avoid the louder crowds later in the day. It can be a bit chaotic, but some people aren’t bothered by that kind of atmosphere. That’s just us!

Brought my daughter to Athens to tour the Ohio University, and on the way out of town we chose to stop and eat here, just for something different. We loved the whole experience. If she goes to college down here, I will definitely eat here again.

I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla and the Texas Burger with fries. The quessadilla was great. The Smokey grilled flavor was pleasantly unexpected. The burger had a great char flavor. It seemed a little dry but I blame myself for not asking for medium or medium rare. The fries had good flavor but were a little soggy.
The server was great, friendly and very attentive to our table. I would definitely come back, the next time I’m in Athens, Ohio.

Been to Shade a couple times and never had a bad experience. I love their Gluten free pizza (I’ve had the chicken, bacon&ranch and cheese. Both amazing). Their traditional Parmesan garlic wings are also amazing. They recently added Parmesan garlic fries to their experiment menu and I 100% recommend and hope that they become a permanent item on the menu. The service is always good. It does become a little loud and overwhelming when they are busy but other than that it’s a good experience.

I’ve gone here 3 separate times, only one time was a greeted and given a drink. I have never had a server take my order or even gotten to taste the food because they never came to the table to take my order. will not be trying a 4th time. Worst feeling ever of going in and not even being greeted when you make eye contact with 3 different servers.

Server smelled like weed the few times we saw her over the course of almost two hours. Orders were incorrect but didn’t feel like trying to sort that out. Daughter ordered from gluten free menu, but something wasn’t gluten free she found out later. Beers were cheap, food isn’t overpriced, salads were good.
