The fried chicken came out hot with a nice crispy skin, but it had a slight aftertaste, like the grease might have been old. The catfish, on the other hand, was really good—well seasoned and flavorful. The mac and cheese was bland and the red beans and rice wasn’t good.
We also ordered the corndog plate and were expecting hand-dipped corndogs, but unfortunately they were the frozen kind. It’s disappointing to get something that feels store-bought when dining at a restaurant. Hand-dipped corndogs with a cornbread batter would be a big improvement.
Another small but noticeable detail: the hot sauce. We were given generic packets containing Red Dye 40. It would be an easy upgrade to offer a better-quality option, like Louisiana-style hot sauce.
They do offer gumbo, but it’s only available in 32 oz portions or larger, with no individual serving size. It’s hard to justify buying that much without being able to try a smaller portion first.
There was no bathroom available which in a sit down restaurant isn’t ideal as there’s no where to wash your hands.
Customer service was decent overall. I really hope they make it, they have potential just need a few improvements.
Food was top notch but the incredible service just put everything over the top.
Also wanna note the crazy drink selection this place has going on. Could not recommend this place more for some solid comfort food.
I was greeted by the owner, who was such a sweet lady—very warm and welcoming, which I truly appreciated. I ordered one wing, one fish filet, and fries. I also picked up a grape soda in one of those old-school bottles, which was super cute and nostalgic.
My coworker got the 5-piece wing dinner with mac and cheese. Unfortunately, the food just didn’t hit the mark. The chicken had an off taste—possibly due to old grease or something sour—and neither of us could really finish our meals. For about $25 per plate, it felt overpriced considering the quality.
Sadly, we both ended up tossing our lunches and chalking it up to a loss. I really wanted to love this spot, especially with such a kind owner, but I won’t be returning.
The owner was kind and apologetic for opening 20 min late.
We ordered a little bit of everything. Fish by the lb (cornmeal battered) perfectly seasoned reminded me of how my grandma used to make it.
Chicken (flour battered) it was good but could use a little bit more seasoning.
Sides: Mac n cheese, greens, hush puppies, roll, and corn bread.
Dessert: Strawberry cake
The grad total for our order was $100+
Amazing as always and the hospitality is above and beyond. Make sure to support and buy her cook book!

This is one of my all time favorites here in Auburn. Chef owner does an amazing job. 10/10 I have since updated my ratings and this “hole in the wall” is worth a trip even if it’s out of your way.
5/27 – Awesome!
Just moved to the area, figured we couldn’t go wrong with some soul food for our first dinner in town! Did not disappoint!
Two orders of chicken and waffles 5/5 so good
Hush puppies 5/5 I loved how soft and fluffy they were! I often see a crunchy batter style that very course and I appreciate how she makes these! I’d love to see some more onions and peppers in the mix but they were so good!
Fried okra was hands down perfect! 10/5!
The syrup was also very good to accompany everything.
All in all the owner was very delightful to talk with and we will be back.
Thank you!
