I cant beleive I hadn’t been here sooner! This is a hidden gem in mishawaka and a must for anyone that likes Korean food! The marinated short ribs were awesome and the staff was so fast getting everything setup and the grill going right after we ordered.

Beef Bibimbop was tasty too and the stone bowl created a wonderful layer of crisp!

This restaraunt is great and the intinate dining area is perfect for groups of 4-6.

Seoul Garden has become one of our go-to local favorites. The second that grill fires up, you know you’re in for something special. We ordered the short ribs, and they were phenomenal — perfectly tender, juicy, and full of that rich, smoky flavor that keeps us coming back.

We didn’t get the bulgogi or spicy pork this time, but they looked (and smelled) amazing at the tables around us. The staff here is always friendly, fast, and makes everything run like clockwork, which keeps the whole experience stress-free and fun.

Between the sizzling sound of the grill, the amazing sides, and the cozy, welcoming vibe, Seoul Garden has that perfect mix of energy and comfort that makes it a standout.

Pro tip: Come hungry and bring a few friends — because once those short ribs hit the grill, you won’t want to share.

We called for a last minute 20 person reservation after a mock trial competition, and they were so wonderful and accommodating. The food was cheap but delicious and filling, the servers were incredibly sweet and nice despite us being loud and probably annoying. The food came out quickly and they were very attentive. They heard it was someones birthday and they gave us all a yakult drink. An absolutely lovely meal with a lovely place

진짜 맛있어요 Wonder meal. Delicious. Mishawaka is fortunate to have such a unique restaurant. Bulgogi dolsot Bibimbap, Moon Mondu, Banchan was on point. I felt like I was in Korea and was tempted to shout out my order. lol. But the server came to my table. I enjoyed my conversation with 이모. She is a busy lady. People need to understand that. Also understand that this is a Korean restaurant. In Korea, servers basically bring your food and leave you alone. If you need something else, ask. If you want an Americanized Korean restaurant, go somewhere else. The “corporate” Korean food won’t be half as authentic or tasty.

This was an amazing lunch! I had the pancake as an appetizer, and it knocked my socks off. Main course was bulgogi bimbeebop. It was served in a hot pot and and absolutely amazing. I love all the little side dishes and the Kim Chi and the radish are my favorite. This is traditional Korean food service was simple and the flavor showed through. Simply the best in town.

Seoul Garden in South Bend, Indiana area is a true hidden gem and the only Korean restaurant I could find in the area. Stepping inside feels like traveling back in time — the décor is quirky and eccentric in a very traditional 1970s way, filled with old-fashioned Korean items that might go unnoticed by most non-Koreans, but for me, they brought back powerful memories of my grandmother. I almost teared up.

The restaurant seemed to be run by three older Korean women, who cook, serve, and treat customers like family. They were warm, social, and attentive, checking in often. At one point, I struggled to pack my takeout, and one of them smiled and helped without me even asking — such genuine kindness. Although it pains me to see them working instead of enjoying retirement, it’s also a reflection of that generation’s mentality — to work hard and take pride in serving others. I hope customers can admire and appreciate that dedication as much as I did.

If you’re looking for an authentic, old-school Korean dining experience, this is the place. Don’t be put off by the unusual items outside or the eclectic mix inside — post-Korean War, many in that generation collected and repurposed items, and it’s fascinating to take a moment and study the details around the restaurant.

The food was delicious, with a generous assortment of banchan (small side dishes served before and during the meal). If you visit in the summer, I highly recommend trying naengmyeon, a classic cold noodle dish. The bibim naengmyeon here is on the spicier side, so it’s perfect for those who love some extra heat.

Overall: Seoul Garden is cozy, nostalgic, and homey. Come here if you want genuine hospitality, traditional flavors, and a glimpse of Korean culture you rarely see in modern restaurants. As I was leaving, I spotted the three women sitting together enjoying their own dinner like a family — such a sweet and heartwarming scene to end my visit. I’d definitely return when I’m in the area.

Food: Authentic Korean, best I’ve ever had hands down. The Korean BBQ is delicious and gives you something to actively do other than shovel delicious saamgjang into your gullet.
Service: It can feel rushed at times, but it’s like 2 ladies and a cook that run this place. By themselves. Everyday. Open to close. Definitely family owned.
Atmosphere: quaint and beautiful. Tons of Oriental things to look at. If you go during spring/summer, the outside garden is breathtaking. Oh did I mention they grow their vegetables there? You don’t see that around here. Definitely not at this price point anyway.
Picture: Bi bim bop served in a heated stone bowl.

We stopped in recently for a quick meal. It was during down time in late afternoon so they were not busy. It’s an old shop, no issue with service, but I just don’t understand the good ratings for this place. The banchans were blend, kimchi had no flavor, the entrees that we ordered were also just mediocre at best. I mean was it edible? Yes. Good? Not even close. Perhaps its because there aren’t other Korean places near ND, but this place is just not that good.

My wife enjoyed her meal and I’m sure they have a lot of good food. The fried dumplings were good. But I ordered the octopus stir fry and the octopus was like rubber.
