We so enjoyed our evening at Sensei! First our waitress was absolutely amazing. For dinner, we opted for the discovery chefs tasting with the drink pairing. It was such a phenomenal experience. Each course was delicious and the presentation was amazing. We left full and very happy. Highly recommend!

Amazing this is one of our favorite spots in town for impeccable ambience, presentation, fresh food, good service and incredible chef creations. We came for my birthday again and this is going to be my annual pick. Everything is always special and the little touches everyone in the restaurant takes to make your day memorable is to die for. They go above and beyond to craft a dining experience that’s relaxing, interesting and engaging. I love the presentation from looks to the story behind the creations that the chef comes up with. Also, watching them harvest ingredients from their garden is the best! We cannot wait to come back and are hoping to book for our Christmas Eve dinner, the chef’s culinary experiences.

This little spot is a true gem and you can tell everyone takes pride in what they do. Our napkins were folded into hearts, they created a handmade bouquet from their garden and gave me a card, hand-written. So thoughtful. It’s worth the stop and honestly, every visit is another beautifully crafted moment! 11/10–definitely recommend!

The environment at Sensei Asian Bistro is vibrant and relaxing, with plush seating that beckons you to stay. Our Omotenashi, Kiki, was exceptional, very knowledgeable, attentive, and made sure our evening was a relaxing and pleasant experience. The food is a fusion of traditional and modern Asian cuisine with robust flavors skillfully and artfully crafted.

We made reservations at Sensei Asian Bistro last night, for our anniversary, to experience “The Discovery” Chef’s Tasting. This is a five-course immersive meal showcasing signature flavors during a one-and-a-half-hour experience.

The evening began with four beautifully crafted hand-held bites, artfully and individually presented, full of texture and flavors ranging from salty, sweet, spicy, and smoky. The Wagyu on the pillowy steamed bun was by far my favorite.
The meal continued with three small, elegantly plated dishes featuring fresh seafood consisting of Kumamoto oysters, Hamachi nigiri, and Tuna maki. Each dish demonstrated the subtle precision and skill of our Chef and their masterful balance of bright, clean food.
Our main course was A5 Wagyu served with black truffles and fried rice. The beef was savory, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. To close the evening, our dessert was decadent yet straightforward. A house-made vanilla cryo gelato with Japanese caramel, topped with a chocolate mint.

Through the meal, our dishes were paired with a selection of drinks. We started with Bushido Sake, which presents notes of tart raspberry, Asian pear, and watermelon. A second pairing, Nigori Sake, an aromatic, creamy, and sweeter sake, presents with hints of melon, banana, and coconut. The third pairing, Justin Cabernet Sauvignon, presented with hints of spice and dark fruits, and perfectly complemented the Wagyu.

We highly recommend Sensei Asian Bistro and look forward to returning.

I had very high expectations for this experience, especially given the cost, but unfortunately it was deeply disappointing.

I spent approximately $160, and the overall service and pacing did not reflect that price point. My wine did not arrive until my full course had already been served, and by that time I was halfway through my meal. My soda was completely flat, which felt like a basic oversight that should not happen at any restaurant, especially one positioned as elevated dining.

As for the food, the lamb chops lacked flavor entirely, while the Japanese potatoes were just okay—nothing memorable. The duck was delicious, which showed potential, but it was the only standout in an otherwise underwhelming meal.

What made the experience worse was that I felt anxious and uncomfortable most of the time, rather than relaxed and cared for as a guest. I left feeling disappointed and frustrated, honestly wishing I had chosen a more casual restaurant where I might have spent less and had a better overall experience.

Given the combination of service delays, quality issues, and the high cost, I believe a refund or partial refund is warranted. This experience did not meet reasonable expectations for the price paid.

I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as there is clearly potential here—but this visit missed the mark entirely.

Although this space is super elegant, the price for the amount of food is mind-blowing in a negative way, in my personal opinion. It is spending a good chunk of money for a small serving of food. I went with a group of ladies on a Monday night and service was extremely slow. We had to go up to the bar in order to request our drinks. The warming Lantern outside stopped working and no one came to assist or offer another remedy. When we voiced our dissatisfaction to the manager on shift, the resolution was to take off 20% however our five top got charged with a 20% gratuity. So that was all done for nothing. The servers were extremely friendly I have nothing bad to say about the servers. Perhaps we were just being forgotten. Before we left the manager gave us ornaments that we did not ask for as a sort of compensation, however my ornament was broken the moment that I opened the box. If you are fine with spending money on small portions of food then this is the place for you.

The quality of food here is unreal. You can spend a lot here really easily but dang it is worth it. The service is amazing and will answer and recommend things on what YOU like and not on making more money. My server Mavis was friendly and very knowledgeable on what I was ordering. I myself mainly got sushi the presentation and quality was amazing. Besides sushi they have a wide range of unique dishes. Highly recommend if you’re in the area it’s right off I75 and easy to get to.

I honestly couldn’t say what the best bite was, because every dish was phenomenal. The seafood was fresh and paired deliciously, the rack of lamb was tender and tasty, vegetables cooked and flavored uniquely. The pork belly was cooked to perfection, with the layers and all. And make sure not to skip dessert! Thanks for an excellent dinner Kiki! Your attention and suggestions were much appreciated! Well worth the $$$

I have already written a glowing review on Yelp, and through my many visits here, I am more than happy to write another review through Google! I was introduced to this restaurant by a close friend who’s a regular, and he told me about how Sensei is his favorite restaurant here in Gainesville — I knew I had to try it!

First impressions: the staff is amazing. Every visit I had here I was greeted warmly and with a smile! It is always nice to be somewhere that I can feel welcome. We were always seated right away, and I am in love with the ambiance and interior of the restaurant.

The food can speak for itself. Every dish I’ve tried (every time I come, I have to try something new!) has been amazing and deliciously juicy. I cannot choose a favorite, so I’ll upload photos of my past dishes I’ve had! I just know that all of them were tender and melted in my mouth.

Overall, this restaurant will definitely be put on my list of favorites. Every visit is a delight!
