First time trying Puerto Rican food and it was very good! Highly recommend the beef stew with rice dish called “Carne Guisada”. Good friendly service, clean tables and seats, and lovely traditional paintings and music. Would eat here again!

If you want real Puerto Rican Boricua food, Señor Big Ed is the place to go to in LA!
Since I’m also Puerto Rican mixed race (Hawaii also has a history of Puerto Rican work migration), I wanted to try their Pasteles plate. I also got the arroz con gandules.
Its super excellent food!
They also not only have a Puerto Rican food menu board, they also have a Mexican food menu board.
Their service is up to par and friendly too.
They also gained a new regular because their food is consistent and is cooked with the love of food!
The best Puerto Rican food in South CA!

Visiting LA for a conference and went to search for mofongos and was not disappointed. This is a great little shop with a nice large dining area accommodate multiple families and couples easily at same time. Kitchen is fast and service was excellent! We had the mofongo with chicken and one with beef as well. Excellent delicious and wonderfully seasoned, we also ordered the beans stew with pork bone. Took home a platter of tostones. Maduros were delicious and their Puerto Rican house rice is worth the trip alone. 10/10 would recommend and come back here again.

Never mind the page on the menu with the Mexican selections. Looking at the wall decorations, it is evident that Señor Big Ed is a Puerto Rican restaurant at its core.
I was born in Puerto Rico, and this restaurant visit was a special treat. I ordered the mofongo with the pork pernil, the arroz con gandules, and a mix of tostones and amarillos. They perfectly cooked everything. The mofongo was especially good, with some juices from the pernil added over the top for extra flavor. I would make a detour in the future just for the mofongo.
The food was too salty for my taste. But I won’t ding Señor Big Ed too much for that because 1) that is probably how they make it back in the island, and 2) I dislike salt more than most.
The service was very attentive and friendly. Everything, including the bathrooms, was impeccably clean. Located about a half-hour east of the Los Angeles airport, the restaurant is an excellent choice for a delicious ethnic meal to combine with your travel plans.

I came here with a colleague, she is Puerto Rican and she said this is the only Puerto Rican restaurant in the area and I wanted to try a taste of Puerto Rico since I have heard so much about it. The food was really good, I went for the Thursday special Carne Guisada was amazing. Our server offer to mix that with Pastel De Masa O Yuca and the combination blended a sense of tropical fruit of fried banana pepper. It tasted amazing.

The food is excellent, taste just like mom and grandmas cooking; the smell, when you walk in says it all, but more importantly, the service is out of this world. They go out of their way to make us feel welcome and get to know us on first name basis. I recommend anyone that is looking to feel like you’re eating back in Puerto Rico to visit Senor Big Ed, I promise it will not disappoint you.
