Senape’s Bakery – Hazleton – NEPA Pizza Review

The Senape’s pizza was cooked to a golden brown, and was actually quite crisp – not like the spongy cold cut pizzas that you would find in the supermarket.

the best pizza place around PA for tavern style pizza, especially with fresh home made real toppings like sausage or meatballs etc. Its always the same taste and has been for 30 years of eating here.

Thank goodness this place is open late. After a long event that ran way over schedule, we stumbled in around 10:30 PM hoping for something decent to eat. Not only were they happy to seat us, but the kitchen was still firing on all cylinders. The food was just what we needed—hearty, comforting, and well-made. I had a bowl of their house-made soup and a grilled cheese that was perfectly crispy and melty. The staff was still energetic and friendly, which is rare that late. It’s a true gem for anyone who works odd hours or just isn’t ready to call it a night.

We got the original tavern pizza and the “Connie”. Both were perfectly done as always! Pizza is always good here and it’s nice to see owners with such passion and joy, even in its 4th generation. Thank you!

I saw this restaurant on social media. The guy said it was the best pizza, even people from NY said so. So wrong! The first red flag was the man answering the phone. I ordered a Sicilian pizza, a pepperoni pizza and fries. He laughed and told me to go to McDonalds if I wanted fries. So rude. The pizza (round as they called it) was definitely a frozen pizza that they threw some pepperoni on. Horrible. The Sicilian (square as they called it) was way undercooked and had no seasonings.
Second red flag, when I walked in the 2 ladies behind the bar didn’t even look at me. Finally I asked if this is where I pick up orders. Her response, “name” with a ton of attitude.
Red flag three, the place is old, dingy, dark and smells like 50 year old smoke.
0/10!

*BEST IN TOWN* they’ve been doing it better than everybody else ever since I was a kid.
Absolutely love the experience of snaps tavern. This is a mom and pop family owned business. Really kind friendly. They make food pretty quickly too.
Outstanding job guys.
Great service to the community too you guys must be doing this at least 50 years now.
Keep up the great work!!! God bless!!

I love this pizza the most of all pizzas. I love the bakery pizza and the bar pizza equally. Also the employees there are actually very awesome. Be nice to them particularly when it is busy. Get the sausage on a pizza!

Overpriced below average pizza. The only reason the rating is so high is because the locals don’t know what good pizza is.

I may be biased, but I love it so much I had pizzas sent on dry ice to Germany. Iraq and Afghanistan. To each is their own, this is mine.

Moved out of state and have been jonesin’ for the Senapetizer… Finally had the opportunity to enjoy this goodness on a recent visit back to PA. Also enjoyed the antipasto, which came with a beautiful loaf of homemade bread. Highly recommend!
