I ordered chicken teriyaki. I returned it and thankfully got my money back. I don’t know what the other dishes are like here but it seems overpriced for 30$ dish to look like that haha. The food in Sag Harbor is really not good in any of the restaurants.

Less than mediocre sushi restaurant…very poorly made rolls. It reminded me of a sushi rolling party I went to…you made sushi rolls for the very first time, and this would be it. The food that should have been cold was warm, and vice versa. But at least it was REALLY expensive for what we got. $100+ for 3 rolls and a beer. Suggestion, send the sushi chefs out to a good Japanese restaurant, order a bunch of stuff and take good notes. You’ve got a great location in an amazing town, you’re charging premium prices, you have a great opportunity to do better.

The uni imported from Japan was incredible, and the rest of the dishes were very good as well. I wanted to share one small note that might help future guests. It would have been a great help if a Japanese menu had been available. My wife is Japanese and does not speak English well, and since we were visiting my hometown, I expected a Japanese restaurant might offer a Japanese menu or have someone who could explain things in Japanese. When I asked, the waiter seemed a bit surprised, which made the moment slightly uncomfortable, and I ended up translating much of the menu for her.

I’ve been a loyal customer at Sen for the entire 30 years it has been in business. Unfortunately, my most recent experience ensures I won’t be returning as long as the manager treats his restaurant and customers the way that he does.

When placing a $70 takeout order, I asked the staff member on the phone to please include extra wasabi and ginger, as Sen often provides too little. She assured me it would be taken care of. What I received, however, was the exact opposite.

When I called to address this with the manager, he was dismissive and combative. Instead of listening, he implied I was lying about being a longtime customer, told me “I was the only person who thought that was too little wasabi and ginger” and that he does not “give things away for free”.
This was not about free items—it was about basic customer service and respect. Besides: Is a 70USD order a free order for him?

It’s sad to see how far Sen has declined. It once had great food and a loyal local following, but now it seems to rely mostly on its location and tourists. No locals I know choose it anymore. Hopefully Sen will take their feedback seriously (their Google Reviews says it all). Until then I can recommend SukiZuki instead—it’s reflected in their ratings.

The box was delicious. The great combination of really wonderful food, and just like I’ve had in Tokyo many times. Very authentic and well done. Generous portion plenty to eat, I paired it with their fresh ginger, juice and finished dinner with one mochi ice cream, which was perfect.! Love this place !

This place is an experience to say the least! Love the backyard garden — my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with dinner last Summer and can’t wait to do it again this Summer. Great to grab and go to Long Beach to watch the sunset from the back of the Jeep too. Nine times out of ten the food is amazing here and we love the Sake selection. Serving staff is amazing. Highly recommended!

Sen is one of my favorite restaurants. We had Gustavo as our server, he was charming and knowledgeable about both the menu and Sake offerings. He was attentive even though they were very busy.
Highly recommend Spicy Edamame and the Kimchi Cucumbers as well as the Miyako Roll and Kinmedai Sushi. If you’re not in the mood for rolls and sushi the Karaage Chicken and Double Pork Ramen don’t disappoint.
Great vibe, delicious food and knowledgeable staff. Must visit if you’re in Sag Harbor

Everytime I come to Sen, I am never disappointed. Food is always amazing and filling and service is wonderful. Ashley, our server, was able to answer any questions me or any of my friends had about the cocktails and rolls that were featured. We will totally be returning shortly. :)))
