The menu is small and simple with dishes about the size of tapas. It is best to order several dishes and share them with friends.
The drink menu has a little bit for everyone with the house cocktails definitely worth a try.
As for the dishes, the chicken wings and fried rice are definitely two to get. For drinks I would go with the rum punch, but be warned..it is strong and packs a wallop.
Decor is nice, but sit away from the door on the cold nights.
They charged us $500 dollars for three dishes, something ridiculously expensive for what it was. And to top it off, they added $100 dollars of tip without asking, as if it was mandatory and without explaining it clearly.
They took advantage of the fact that they were young. That’s not service, it’s wanting to get money out of people. If they need to inflate the bill that way, they should be honest from the beginning.
I’m not going back and I don’t recommend it. Check your account because here you are clearly trying to overcharge.
Food was so good 10 points, super fresh and very tasty, the tostadas and the papas took us home for a few seconds. I would like to highlight Jack our server, he was amazing!
Definitely recommend Selva and for sure we will be back!
On the plus side- the flavors were really good of everything I ordered.
I also appreciate that the menu was clear for those with dietary restrictions.
But heres where they lost me.
Handicap parking requires a buffer area for loading and unloading. That buffer zone was overflowing with garbage bins so the person parked there needed to take up 2 spots to safely get in and out.
Their parking in general is extremely tight with just enough space to drive in OR out – one vehicle at a time. There is technically street parking also tho.
Short ribs were the toughest thing I’ve tried to cut, even after asking for a steak knife and giving up on the butter knife originally provided. It was a lot of work to try and eat.
There are a lot of options to try, but the highlights are the fried rice and skewers. The Yuka fries were awesome too.
I really recommend maybe trying this place for brunch, I imagine it would be less expensive. We ended up paying about $170 for this dinner, which is more than I expected to spend for the night.
I would give 4.5 stars if I could. My only issue was the portion sizes. While it does say small plates, I’d say it’s not worth the price. It’s a type of restaurant where you want to try new food but must have that extra disposable restaurant money. Overall, great service and food!
We were able to sit down right away and we chose the bar. The bartender was very energetic and super knowledgeable of the menu, I give him props for properly pronouncing the Colombian-themed menu. However, he did have a moment that came off a bit rude. He literally went thru the entire menu with us, half way through my date asked if we could put in a chicken and rice dish for an appetizer, but instead of doing so the bartender said, “well let me finish going through the menu first” in a very curt tone. We allowed him to finish and asked for the same app to be brought out while we figured out what else we wanted. We laughed it off and joked about how we could read the menu ourselves, but I’m sure the bartender meant well. But I really don’t need every single menu item read to me, usually they just let us know if there’s a chef special or if there’s a menu item that is well loved by fellow patrons.
Our appetizer took awhile to come out, but it wasn’t a big deal. Our entrees came out fairly quick. Everything was amazing, however I am definitely ordering the beef with the sauce on the side next time. It was very yummy and I was surprised it was made from a type of worm, but it was also pretty rich and overpowered the taste of the meat (and the steak was cooked to perfection).
Overall we had great service, everyone there was in great spirits, enjoyed what they do, super knowledgeable of their menu items, and just overall great customer service.
I will definitely come back here again in the future!
