If you are looking for the absolute pinnacle of Japanese dining in the Greater New Orleans area, look no further than Seiji’s Omakase in Metairie.

I’ll be honest right up front: this is not a cheap night out. It is definitely on the pricey side, but I can say without hesitation that it was absolutely worth the price. You aren’t just paying for dinner; you are paying for an experience that rivals top-tier sushi counters in New York or Tokyo.

The “Omakase” (chef’s choice) format meant we put our trust completely in the Chef, and he did not disappoint. The courses were incredibly unique, far beyond your standard tuna and salmon. Each piece was a work of art, featuring exotic fish flown in from Japan, perfectly seasoned and presented. From the melt-in-your-mouth Toro to the surprisingly delicate uni and creative cooked dishes, every bite offered a new, delicious surprise.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere and service were world-class. Despite being tucked away in Metairie, the moment you sit at the intimate counter, you feel transported. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, explaining every dish with passion, and watching the chefs work with such precision was mesmerizing.

If you have a special occasion or just want to treat yourself to the best sushi in Louisiana, book a seat at Seiji’s. It is a splurge that you will remember for a long time. Highly recommended!

The omakase was absolutely delicious, but Service was definitely lacking especially if you’re paying almost $300 for lunch. No fault of the chefs. They were amazing.

We had the most amazing experience at Seiji’s Omakase! One of the best in my overall culinary experience!
We went for a 7-course kaiseki dinner and we enjoyed every single item!
The quality of the ingredients is top-notch, the creativity of the chef allowed us to experience new flavors and combinations that literally left us with no words…
By opting for a counter service you have also the great opportunity to chat with the chef who will carefully explain you what you are going to eat and this really improved our overall experience.
The chef and his staff will let you enjoy a unique experience. Everything will be prepared at the moment and in front of you. Everything was amazing!!!
We will definitely come back to try new combinations and to friendly chat with the chef!
Please, if you really love trying an authentic experience, go to Seiji’s!!!

Eaten at most sushi restaurants in NOLA the past 40 years. This was an experience unlike any other. It will transport you to Japan. You quickly realize you’ve been eating mediocre sushi your whole life up until this point. The price might seem high…it isn’t. Truly an experience.

This was incredible! The meal was amazing and the service was excellent and so friendly. We’ve had multiple omekase experiences including in Japan and this was truly awesome. The 7 course Kaiseki was plenty of food.

This is my favorite omakase in the city hands down! We had the 4 course omakase which included an appetizer, 12 pieces of sushi, a lovely seafood soup, and dessert. We loved the Hokkaido scallop with foie gras, the miso cod, amberjack, eel and flounder. Truly every piece was delicious.

Chef Seiji is clearly a master of his craft and the service is impeccable. I feel Seiji’s is as good as Nagomi and much more accessible.

Amazing omikase served here!! The chefs are standout. Crafting sushi from the freshest ingredients curated from traditional Japanese style flavors. The sake selection is top notch (we love the Dassai they have)! Minh’s service is wonderful. He easily translates what we want to the chefs. This is a different kind of sushi experience. Don’t miss this!!

This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is incredible, a nice quiet Omakase spot back behind the main restaurant. Chef Seiji is a delight, and I enjoyed spending time with him as much as the food itself. Incredibly well priced for the quality and quantity of the food. I will be back many, many times in the future.
