Secret Garden has a great rooftop vibe tucked away in an old apartment building with a decent city view. However, the experience didn’t quite match the price point.
The Food: The 10-piece mixed spring rolls were tasty and fresh, but the mains were a letdown. The grilled chicken was well-cooked but completely flavorless (my son wouldn’t even finish it), and the Banh Xeo lacked any real punch.
The Service: Very frustrating. We had to ask four times for a simple drink, and then they double-billed us for it.
The Atmosphere: Disappointed they only serve canned beer—no draft or bottles. It felt overpriced for the quality, and we noticed no one really lingered. It’s an “eat, drink, and leave” kind of spot.
Summary: Go for one appetizer and the view, then head elsewhere for a proper dinner.
Our bad for not asking the surcharge at that place to use a credit card. IT WAS 20%. Usually 3 to 5%. We get back to the hotel and get ready to leave and see an extra 105,600. Call the restaurant. The person answering did not know the service charge rate. Asked us to come the next day. Told him we were leaving that night. He did not care. Add that to the extra 3000 napkins charge and I can see why not too many locals were eating here. Be careful if you go.
There is no gluten free menu available.
Just ordered 1 dish a sampler of their rolls. Serving size was good. Very quiet and serene place. Staff were friendly. Really good experience overall as long as the weather is nice.
The restaurant located on the 6th floor of sort of a residential looking apartment building.
There is a restaurant name sign in front of the building. But first you have to walk into sort of an apartment courtyard with many motorcycles packed walkway.
The view on the top was very nice. It’s mostly open outdoor restaurant with a moveable roof for sun and rain. Lovely bit of garden in the middle of the place.
We had 3 dishes to share between the 3 of us, squid herbs salad, grilled fish with garden salad, and steam lemongrass clams. We also had 2 desserts to finish off the meal, some coconut mix beans with green chewie and a longan mix dried fruits sweet. The food was okay and the place is very relaxing. However there were not really anything I can called service, as it was hard to even find the staff to order food with.
