The tomato bisque was incredible, and my girlfriend absolutely loved the crab cake and the beef Wellington. The eggplant parm was decent and the penne alla vodka that came with it was excellent, but as a vegetarian I’d probably choose a different entrée next time.
Overall, the atmosphere and service were great, highlighted by an amazingly talented live performer. They really delivered a perfect Valentine’s Day dinner for us. I’d definitely go back.

This restaurant is marketed as “Casual Fine Dining” and it is a perfect description. The low-key atmosphere is laid-back but very attentive. The food is exquisite. We started with the Shrimp Cocktail. 3 plump, rosy pink juicy shrimp were served over ice with a tangy cocktail sauce and wedge of lemon. It was simply divine. My main course featured the Chicken Schnitzel. This crispy culinary marvel had a crunchy texture on the outside and a perfectly cooked tasty moist chicken on the inside. This is a wonderful restaurant to get a great meal while being treated like family.

Wonderful meal, wonderful experience. I was dining solo, which I do not do that often, and they were so accommodating and friendly. I sometimes think you can judge the quality of the service at a restaurant by how they treat a solo diner :)… the bartender Betty made me feel right at home and the owner Denise checked in at just the right time to ask how everything was. And they have hummingbird cake 🙂 Highly recommend.

What a gem – this is a wonderful little restaurant in a very small Hudson River town. They have a nice selection, the chef is amazing. My favorite is the Spice Rubbed Pork Flat Iron steak. It is delicious and the potatoes that come with it are a treat. The lobster bisque is always delicious (although some have commented it is on the salty side – but not to me). The bartender makes a mean dirty martini and they have a better than average wine list compared to other areas. Overall – this is always a good bet, just make a reservation to be sure.

We were welcomed on Mother’s Day first time visit as had to cancel a later reservation another restaurant as family had to return to city. Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, we all enjoyed our entrees, and I loved the rice pudding I took home with me. The chef (owner?) walked around to some of the tables acknowledging the guests and I would have liked to chat a minute but didn’t have the opportunity as we were being helped. I will return when we have more time to enjoy appetizers etc

Seconds Restaurant is an outstanding dining experience in Athens, NY. The chef produces consistently great meals, the bartender is a true professional, the wait staff are personable and responsive, and the hostess is always friendly and focused on your dining experience.
As a frequent business traveler, I’ve eaten at untold numbers of restaurants in this country and around the world. Seconds is one of my top restaurants. I highly recommend it.

I took my husband here for his birthday two days ago. We’ve been recommend to try Sconds by a lot of our customers in town. We are locals, just haven’t had time to try it. Anyway, the food was GREAT one stupid complaint is the vegetable/rice didn’t have much flavor. They had a band so that was cool to eat and have some yummy cocktails while they played. My husband had Salmon and I had the Brisket Bacon Burger both were delicious. Our service was great, our waitress was veryyy nice, atmosphere was chill and inviting, outside seating available, very clean overall a great experience. We did had renovations. We would definitely recommend and will be back soon…

I loved their bread dipping oil—it was made with olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, cheese, and various herbs. I enjoyed it so much; I had never had anything like it before. I’m going to try making it on my own! And OMG, their potatoes—so good. Thinly sliced, cooked with butter and cream—it tasted absolutely sinful.

My mother and I had dinner at Seconds last evening and had a fantastic experience. She thought she had made a reservation through Google, but never received a confirmation. When we arrived at 6 PM—on a busy summer concert night in Athens—we realized we didn’t have one. Despite the crowd, the hostess was incredibly gracious and managed to find us a table for two.
The service throughout the evening was excellent. Our waitress was warm, efficient, and attentive—our water glasses were never empty.
We both enjoyed a glass of the organic Chianti (a generous pour) and the eggplant Parmesan, which was outstanding. It came stacked with tender eggplant, spinach, and ricotta, served alongside a perfectly cooked and seasoned pasta in vodka sauce. The portion was just right—we each ate half and took the rest home.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, with great ambiance. It was busy and lively, but everything flowed smoothly. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying themselves just as much as we were.

Such a lovely meal in Athens. Sat outside with our son and doggy. The owner and her daughter were so nice and the good was excellent. The eggplant Parm was perfection as was the chocolate mousse. My son who’s usually a bit picky crushed he shrimp scampi. Great spot with a lovely view of the river to cap the night.
