Our first impression of the restaurant was rather sober, and the service was a bit surly. However, the ice was broken after a short while, and by the end, we were best friends with the waitress.
For our main course, we both had freshly caught fish, which was extremely delicious. You should definitely try the Bloody Mary if you like that kind of drink.

Pros: easy to find, AMAZING FOOD, decent prices, friendly staff. I had the crabby sandwich (crab cake) with sweet potato fries and my mom and sister had the burger and fries, all was very delicious
Cons: kind of dark and outdated, waiter was very nice but a little too touchy…was putting his hand on my mom and sisters shoulders when he was taking our order, etc.

This restaurant is fabulous!! We stumbled on it while traveling and were so happy to find it!! The food was amazing, and the service was quick. We thought the prices were very reasonable. My husband had the fried whitefish and it was crisp and not at all greasy. The sides were great as well. I had the whitefish chowder and the vegetable wrap. Both exceeded my expectations. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. AND—there was live music—a harpist was playing!! We were so thankful to find such a great place to eat!!

I highly recommend! Owners were so kind. Food was absolutely delicious. Sangria was amazing, seafood chowder was incredible and I could eat the wild mushroom bruschetta every day for the rest of my life. I went twice in one week and there was lovely harp music the second time. Pricey, but worth it.

“Fish just came off the lake” said the waiter, who is half of the husband and wife couple that has owned this cute little spot with AMAZING home cooked quality food, for the past 20 some years.
Husband does the waiting and biz.
Wife does the cooking and baking.
I’ve lived in NYC, LA, Florence Italy and many other famous food cities… and I’ll tell ya this for free: this place is special. I wish there were more places like this around these days. Anyhow! About the food…
Wow – the fish sandwiches were amazing.
Tomato basil soup with Gorgonzola cheese, mmmmmm!!!! So good.
We cleaned our plates and bowls, every last bit.
Then desert… fantastic! Homemade chocolate mouse cake.
The service was delightful as well.
Highly recommend, and thanks for a great lunch!

Not sure if our waitress/owner was having a bad day, her attitude seemed awful towards us. No substitutions! I mentioned they forgot to give me something and she looked at me with a mean face. She seemed to be friendly with the locals. She made sure to be friendly with us right at tipping time. Strange. The atmosphere of the interior was very pleasant. The soup was luke warm to cool. I would prefer much hotter, but the food tasted great! If person was friendlier and food hotter, I would give a higher rating.

We had a very pleasant experience at the Second Street Bistro while traveling through the area. Excellent ambiance and food (fish fry Friday special, grilled Cajun chicken sandwich, homemade Sangria, and Founders Porter). The service was exceptional, too. Thank you!

My kid loved his food, I didn’t like mine. We are both picky eaters, so take that with a grain of salt.
