We opted for the premium meat upgrade, but honestly, it didn’t feel worth it since the meat quality didn’t stand out compared to the standard selections. Still, the overall experience is enjoyable, unique, and great for groups.
There is a quirk where while most hotpot burner controls are on the side of the table facing you, two of the six burners on our table had the controls on the cooking surface itself which wasn’t obvious – ask your server if you can’t find it.
The sauce bar was extensive with cold appetizers and fruits as well. One concern however is that some of the hotel pans were filled a little too high with sauce and since the end of the sauce ladles hook downwards to keep the ladles from falling in, a few of the ladle ends actually dipped into a neighboring sauce hotel pan.
The restaurant did a decent job keeping the conveyor belt stocked except for the sliced fish, which took longer to come back around. Of course I could have just been unlucky with the tables ahead of us grabbing it. Overall it wasn’t a big deal though with other options passing by each second!
We made a reservation for 6:30 and when we got to seapot we were told we were gonna have to wait up to 15min extra for the table. We ended up waiting 30min. The staff told us there were people that were going over the time limit and they couldn’t do much about it.
Finally when we get a table, there is only one grill that will not be enough to cook meat fast enough for a group of 8. Even with cooking as fast as possible everyone was having to wait 5min+ for some food. A new term was created: “Beef Drought” to describe the lengthy periods of time after a round of beef was cooked.
Will definitely go back again soon~
But it’s really busy, long wait for the sauce/salad station, it’s hard to manage the crowd, they do their best. We had gone for Saturday dinner, probably the busiest time. Definitely made it convenient by using Yelp wait-list.
I love the conveyor belt concept because you can try a little bit of everything from different meatballs, mushrooms, tofu, noodles, veggies, and more. I also like how you can also order high-quality cuts of meat. Beef toro is always our go-to order. Our server was attentive and always came at the right time to let us order additional meats. There’s a wide selection of soup bases that you can choose for your individual pot and you could even mix the bases if you wanted to. The diy sauce bar is always well stocked and has lots of different things for you to make your own sauce.
I think this is a great place to have small to large group dinners but do keep in mind that only two people per table could access the conveyor belt. And if you have a group that’s bigger than 8 people, you’ll have to split up into multiple tables.
I’ve gone to Seapot on weekdays and weekends, and it definitely gets very crowded on the weekends. But it’s great that you can join the Yelp waitlist in advance, and you could make a reservation for 6+ people. Highly recommend planning ahead if you plan to come here on the weekend.
There’s a big parking lot but it can be busy during peak hours so allow yourself enough time if you make a reservation and you may need to park in the back and walk around.
The food quality was really good. I ordered 4 meats for my first round and didn’t make it to the second as the quantity per order was very generous.
There are so many selections on the revolving belt. I tried some seafood, beef tripe, some different veggies and they all came in great quality.
The self-serve sauce bar has plenty options including dipping sauces, cold dishes and fruits. And again, the quality was great.
The service I got was nice and proper. My server came visit at a just-right frequency and provided service with sweet smile 🙂
Love the food, service and atmosphere. I would definitely visit again with my friends.
