If you’re going to charge market prices for lobster Make sure it’s fresh not out of the freezer. Well I was looking for some seafood since I was down near the coast figured we could get some fresh stuff Even though it’s winter time lobster men are still out but this place doesn’t serve fresh apparently. But to start upon entering it was cold in there Not very busy The food was not very good something was off maybe it was because my lobster stew wasn’t hot but it tasted funny definitely not worth what I paid for Frozen lobster I got about a handful if that for $43 won’t be going back and I have nothing good to say about this place did the gentleman inside told me it was good I begged to differ I’m not the only one that got lukewarm lobster stew someone else had to bring theirs back up there to get it reheated I’m pretty sure they stuck it in the microwave That’s not how you reheat lobster That’s probably why it’s chewy. Girlfriend got some fried pickles never had them this way super spicy won’t be ordering those again either they looked like french fries they would have been fine if not so spicy

Food was good! We did take out our first time. Hubby and I got the seafood mix platter was $46 after tax. The food was piping hot, fresh and delicious for a good price. We got haddock, scallops, and clam strips, coleslaw, and fries. Want to try again! Would recommend!

This is my third time here when traveling from Chicago. Perfection every time. I don’t see why people complain about price and size of meals. I paid $120 but $60 was for the lobster roll. Worth every bite. I had so much foot we didn’t finish everything. The pie was amazing and I ordered two…one for dinner and one for 4th meal at midnight. People were friendly and food was made fast considering. This is a place I stop at every time I visit Portland. I will see you all next year.

Food looked great till we started eating it. For 30$ a platter I don’t expect the volume of food presentation to be overstated by a roll under the food then to have a ratio of 20% roll, 50% fries and 30% seafood. Food was average flavor but nothing distinctive. Pictures include for proof. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant was clean and well lit and bathrooms were the same. Plenty of free parking.

They always have some of the best fried food around, especially the onion rings!!!
The scallops portion seemed a little small at first, but the cook noticed the same and brought out a few more, which made me feel they cared about their food and customers. I stop here every year after Monkey C, and you should too!
The crab roll is also good

Stopped while driving through, wish we had kept going.

Rude staff, didn’t greet us or even speak to us until I started ordering. Their market prices are also WILD, a $47 lobster roll and $30 oyster basket was unreal.

The food was fine, portions were expected (they put a roll under everything to make the baskets overflowing), batter was crunchy. Just ungodly expensive for what it was.

Best bet is to keep driving and wait for a better option.

We love the food and the friendly welcoming staff here. John and his team are awesome!

We highly recommend the award winning lobster stew and the various fried fish offerings. But the best kept secret is the highly craveable and addicting haddock chowder, served with a warm buttered roll and oyster crackers. At $10.99 for a bowl (16 oz), this is a steal that we have to get at least once a month and wish we would remember to grab some pre-frozen containers for when they are closed during the holidays. Don’t sleep on the Haddock Reuben either.

Along with the usual offering of fountain and bottled beverages, they also have a drink fridge in the corner where they stock local Maine sodas. Our favorites are the unique Green Bee honey sweetened sodas (you can’t go wrong with any of their flavors).

Note: they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful weather.

The worst French fries I have ever had! The fish basket was 60% filled with a roll and fries that you probably cannot even eat. They weren’t fried well, soft ( who eats French friend soft!!) and non of the fried stuff felt fried, it felt more like air fried! Dry n tasteless! The calamari, some of them were raw from inside! TERRIBLE! Find another place n there are tons actually!

Honestly pleasantly surprised. I went here with a few friends while staying in Maine for an early dinner. Two of us, myself included, are gluten intolerant so we weren’t sure what we could expect. I was shocked to find out that over 75% of the menu had a gluten free option that looked near identical to the regular offerings.

We mostly got gluten free seafood baskets and one person got gluten free onion rings both of which were delicious. The portion sizes are enormous so unless you have a massive appetite, 1 order should be more than enough, I had food for 2 days and only ordered 1 item. Their best items in my humble opinion are the fried haddock and scallops.

Please be aware if you are gluten intolerant or celiac, don’t order the soups, they are made with flour. Oh and they do a have gluten free bread option so lobster rolls are an option.

We finally made it to this popular seafood restaurant on Rt. 1 in Wiscasset. It has been on our list for years, but we never timed it correctly.

So glad we stopped at this roadside gem.

Friendly service at the counter. Takeout or order for dine-in and they’ll call your number when your order is ready. There’s a service station with tartar sauce, ketchup and napkins and plastic utensils to get your own supplies.

Lots of booths and a few larger tables in the two dining rooms. A large outdoor seating area as well.

The fried clams ($26.99 MARKET PRICE) and the Haddock Reuben special ($13.99) were stupendous!

The clams were lightly battered and flavorful, not chewy. The large sandwich was on the softest marble rye bread with a fried haddock fillet, cole slaw, Swiss cheese and Thousand Islands dressing.

This place has been recommended to us for years and we’re happy we finally made it there. Worth a stop.
