“Better from Scratch” is not just a slogan here. The food tastes like homemade but elevated. Our choices: Green Tomato Stacks appetizer with creamed feta and red pepper jam between layers. Entrees: Shrimp and Grits with pork belly and a zingy gochugaru sauce. Cast Iron Chicken which was a beer-brined, lemon-rosemary half chicken atop perfectly executed caramelized brussel sprouts and butternut squash served in a cast iron skillet that kept it warm start to finish.
Valentine’s evening was busy but a 30-minute wait was more than made up for by Carly’s quick service, comfortable booth seating and the relaxing background sounds like Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect,” Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” and
Céline Dion’s “Because you loved me.” Low-key dining room where you can still have a conversation.
Good to know: Rustic glassware (think Mason jars). No table condiments (think salt and pepper), but also not needed. Food was perfectly seasoned. Also, parking is tight here until the new parking deck opens.

My wife, family, and I recently visited Scratch Kitchen and Tap Room, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. We decided to try their new Korean marinated flank steak sandwich, and wow, it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time.
The flavors were perfectly balanced. The pickle had a unique, tangy flavor that complemented the rich steak beautifully. The bread was toasted just enough to add texture but still soft enough that it didn’t scratch the roof of your mouth a small detail, but one that makes a big difference. The Korean-style mayonnaise was phenomenal; I’m not entirely sure what’s in it, but I’d love to find out because it brought everything together. The arugula added a fresh, peppery touch that really completed the sandwich.
This was our first time visiting this particular location, but we’ve been to their sister restaurants, The Mason Jar and The Tap Station, and Scratch Kitchen holds its own with the same level of excellence. The service was top-notch; our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable about everything from the beer on tap to the house-made condiments. Even the ketchup was a premium Heinz variety, and the ranch dressing was made in-house and tasted fresh and flavorful.
We also tried a couple of their burgers, including the barbecue burger, which were both excellent, but that Korean steak sandwich definitely stole the show.
All in all, Scratch Kitchen and Tap Room delivered a five-star experience, from the food and service to the welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a wonderful experience at Scratch Kitchen & Taproom while spending time in the area with family and friends. The food was delicious and the service was great from the moment we arrived.
I ordered the salmon salad, which was fresh and full of flavor, and others in our group enjoyed burgers and several other menu items—everything was really well made and tasted amazing. You can tell care goes into the food.
The atmosphere was welcoming and easygoing, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy good company. We truly enjoyed being there and would definitely recommend it if you’re in the Cary or Holly Springs area.

The food was absolutely delicious, and our server was very friendly and polite.
However, there was an issue with the hostess — our phone number was written down incorrectly, so we never received the text message. She also didn’t come over to let us know, even though we were sitting at the bar and waiting. If we hadn’t gone to ask ourselves, we would have waited much longer.

Came here for dinner with a friend who was visiting from out of town. The food was incredible. The salad was MASSIVE, the crab cakes were delicious, and the roast chicken was amazing. Great service and able to answer questions about gluten free items on the menu.

The most difficult thing here is choosing what to eat because you just wanted to try everything! Food was absolutely scrummy! Wait staff was attentive and our order was served up in a fair amount of time and presentation of each dish was superb! Beverages served in mason jars and the craft beers are great with a nice selection! And if your server is the devil that tempts you with dessert…go for it…but ask for spoons to share with your tablemates! You won’t be sorry!

Wonderful early new year’s eve dinner with friends. I had the new york strip that was cooked perfectly. The graten potatoes… I don’t know what they did to them.But they were the best potatoes i’ve ever had.In my life. Mac and cheese are legendary. They were very accommodating when I wanted to switch out the spicy onions for something else. I don’t often give five stars, but this place knocked it out of the park. Highly recommend. Friends said the bibimbap bowls, chicken, and pork were excellent, too.

I’ve been to this location three or so times, and each time has been excellent. I have a severe peanut allergy and the servers made sure to communicate with the kitchen and let me know what to avoid. The Scratch Fries are super delicious (would highly recommend) and my favorite entree is the Jammin’ Burger. The flavors are incredible and each bite has a different flavor profile. The Crispy Chicken sandwich is also pretty good! I love the coleslaw side and the Buffalo Cauliflower bites too.
It is usually super busy on Saturday evenings, so I’d recommend going during the day or on a weekday dinner if you can. There’s a parking lot in the back but sometimes it’s full, so you can park on a nearby street.

I came here for brunch with my family and we all loved our food. We were on a tight schedule and the staff made sure our food was out quickly so we had time to enjoy it. Everything was delicious, I really want to go back and try more dishes. The hot towels for our hands were so fun and perfect on a cold day!
