They’re in such a good location.
Their employees are awesome.
Their portions are good & the quality is TOP.
3rd time there I found my fav order – THE BISCUIT SANDWICH, + HAM & AVOCADO. Heck of a biscuit.
Get the hashbrowns bites + hollandaise & some chili crunch.
Egg sandwich with the Norwegian bread was LOVELY too.
In the barren wasteland desert that is Bloomington’s small business scene, Scramblin’ Egg is a gold mine OASIS. I was so freaking pumped when they got a storefront AND wahooooo it’s close to my office.
2 downsides:
-it’s like $1 I think to add avocado? & I just think for that you should get more than what was on there. There were like 2 slices.
-lack of space for seating; it’s so cute in there, I’d love to stay & bask in the yolky glow!
The standard burrito ($12) is decent size. I had never had a breakfast burrito with rice in it, so I gave it a try. It’s pretty rice-heavy.
I’d probably like it more without rice and with double eggs or meat. The sausage in the burrito was more on the well-done side, a little bit dry; not exactly what I was expecting.
The White Squirrel coffee ($4) tastes alright. Kind of tastes like a K-cup, though.
No dine-in.
This is hands down my favorite breakfast burrito. It is massive and definitely a two-hand burrito. The bacon is thick, the eggs are incredibly soft, and the flavors are consistently perfect every single time. The spicy scramblin’ adds just the right amount of heat, and adding extra scramblin’ is always the right move. Everything is generously portioned, filling, and so satisfying.
Every sauce is worth trying. They all bring something different, and you truly cannot go wrong no matter which one you choose.
Jazz is amazing and always so helpful. The service is consistently friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.
Casual, fun, and comfort-food perfection. It is the kind of place you crave and keep coming back to.
I highly recommend ordering ahead to avoid a longer wait, especially on Saturdays when it gets busy. I do not have any photos to share because I am always too eager to eat everything the second I get home.
10/10, no notes.
I ordered the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich with the scramblin sauce.
The sausage and taste was not what I had expected, I was hoping for a breakfast sausage type patty and not chunks of some sort of chorizo sausage. It had a little spice to it but still tasted good, just not what I had expected. I guess I should’ve read the non-5 star reviews before ordering, because this “sausage issue” was brought up before. Next time I’ll be ordering bacon, hope that those will not be bacon bits, jk.
The bread was toasted perfect though and the egg and cheese were delicious. Overall a great sandwich, and filling.
The best part though were the hash browns, they were awesome. They reminded me so much more of German potato pancakes than American hash browns. I got the scramblin sauce with it, but they don’t need any sauce, they are so tasty without it. If anything I would recommend to serve them with applesauce, maybe they can add applesauce as a side item, that’ll be awesome.
Prices were fair for today’s standards. $16 total for the sandwich, hash browns and a side of scramblin sauce.
I probably won’t be making an extra trip down here, but if I’m in the area before 2pm I’ll drop in again some day.
