Went here with a coworker for dinner. We were craving German food bad and there aren’t very many choices in the area. It was kind of weird going to a German place that didn’t serve beer but they allowed us to bring our own. The decor is kinda weird, like grandma threw up in there, speaking of which, definitely an older crowd. We went on a Friday night prime time and it was dead. Which is a shame because the food is amazing. We loved our meals. Great selection and great taste. I had some of the German chocolate cake and almost died it was so good. The owners just need to do something to spruce the place up some a draw a bit of a younger crowd, like under 80.

On the advice of another Google review i got the french onion soup. It was excellent. I was a bit apprehensive when it came to the table because the cheese was not broiled, but the stock was superb, the onions perfectly carmelized and cheese was rich and flavorful. My wife got a ceddarburger medium and the meat was juicy and tasted like it had never seen the inside of a freezer. Also for a Jersey Shore place in August the prices were year round normal. I can’t wait to go back. If you are looking for good, solid food and not trendy décor this is the place.

Looking for real German food for the wife’s urge. Wow! Found it here ! Their German potato salad is tops! Red cabbage hits the mark. Wurst any way you want. The Munich was just what she wanted in a white. And the dumplings are the best and most like Home! Need to go back and try the saurerbraten! Did takeout and everyone was was friendly, and for our first time there, very helpful in satisfy our needs and explaining the offerings. “WE WILL BE BACK”

Nice, old-fashioned family restaurant. The atmosphere is warm, and the walls are covered with hot air ballooning memorabilia. Most clients are older, but children are welcome. The food is ok and the deserts are very good.

Family friendly. The crock of french onion soup was one of the best I have ever had. German patotoe pancakes were a great appetizer. They were out of burgers on a saturday night which i thought was strange. I would go back.

Not a bad place, but not a great one. Some German fare is absent from the menu, such as my favorite, rouladen. The atmosphere in the place is something to be desired, although there is a nice fire place that we try to sit near. Not as good as other German resteraunts I have been to, but just about the only one nearby.

OK…..I am sorry to do this but I feel it is my obligation to anyone that may enter these doors….Run. Run away, very fast. I went in for the “Homemade Ice Cream”, and though saw that the sign was painted over in a slightly different yellow tone, I didnt think much of it. They stopped making their Ice Cream, ok, that’s fine (Probably a good thing actually), but I beg you…. you people at this restaurant….i BEG YOU….please…PLEASE….stop selling food. You do NOT know how. You DO know how to work your multiple microwave oven station, but WHAT….THE…F!….is that item you called Chicken Paprikash??? (I wont even comment on your Spaetzle). I’ll bet you $100 that “Chicken Meat” came out of a can, not unlike any other canned meat (tuna, beef, whatever) you tossed it on the plate and your sauce? did you forget the sour cream? no onions either? OK, my Grandmother was heavy duty Slovak, but COME ON! that was 100% garbage. I almost flung it in the face of the guy working the microwave, I was THAT angry. The Apple Strudel? That filling was canned. You wrapped phyllo dough around canned mixed fruit cocktail and told me it was homemade. I’ll bet you bought the Chocolate cake at the 5 & dime! My Wife, Daughter & I, all laughed the whole night, as we had such high expectations. I saw the amazing menu and we waited about 45 minutes for that one tossed together entree, because you had ONE little German girl (who worked her BUTT OFF for you I might add….I tipped her 20% because she was such a worker!) We even enjoyed the old man out back that we could see from our table sucking down a cigarette. I am NOT kidding, either New Jersey has Looooow expectations and standards for food (who knows, maybe French Fries are a delicacy there) or something is very very wrong over there. The Ice Cream was GREAT! because as you said, you got it from Vermont. One question?…..the sweet cabbage?…canned right?…..OMG this place is Baaaaaaaaad. I am not kidding here, when I walked out, I was so pissed off, One old man said to me, with a smile, as I walked out the door- “you feel better now?” I said- “NO! I am so angry that I damn near shoved that food in the people’s face”. Worst place I ever ate (I am 51 years old and yes, I am a cook, been cooking since I was a little boy. I specialize in Stuffed Cabbage, Chicken Paprikash & several other recipes of that ilk, So yes, I know what I am talking about )

Great German food. BYOB. My Austrian grandfather always comes here for his birthday. He is notoriously difficult to please, and he always gives it his highest praise: “Not bad at all.”

I visited this place on recommendations from friends. The meal was huge and heavy and the service was overwhelmed as I watched her go by 10 times before I got her attention. No matter, coincidentally the place burned to the ground later that week.
