We came at 2pm on a weekday and were promptly seated. Our server was very pleasant and suggested the buffet which we accepted. It was a small but tasty offering of various German dishes. We finished up with dessert and couldn’t have had a more pleasant late-lunch while passing through Columbus.

We were visiting from out of town and stopped by for lunch on a Sunday before heading home. The German Village neighborhood was adorable and we were happy to have found Schmidt’s. The Bahama Mama platter was amazing and we shared an apple strudel a la mode for dessert. I loved the ambience and the food was delicious!

Schmidt’s Sausage Haus Restaurant in the German Village neighborhood of Columbus Ohio is a must do. Be sure to try their famous buffet to sample the selection of sausages and more. Desserts are only $5 when ordering buffet. Nice menu if you’re not into the buffet thingy. If you’re reading this, please hit Like❤️ Leechelle was a great server.

Schmidt’s was AMAZING! I love German food, and this hit the spot. Coming from Cincy, I’ve had a good amount, but this was by far some of the best I’d had in a while. The sauerkraut with pork was delicious. Pretzel nuggets- bomb. Sauerkraut balls – pretty sure best I’ve ever had. Our server, Lauren, as the sweetest and most patient – we came with questions! She gave us great advice and tips and was so friendly to talk to. Definitely will return at some point when back in the area!

Grabbed lunch here with some friends the other day. Schmidt’s comes with a lot of hype. I’m not sure it totally lives up to it in certain ways.

I decided to do something I never do, I ordered the buffet. I wanted to try a lot of different things, and the buffet seemed to make the most sense.

The buffet was solid. The mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious. The macaroni and cheese was super creamy. And the sausage stew was one of the best stews I’ve ever had. That’s the one thing I would highly recommend.

The sausages though were kinda bland. They weren’t bad, but I didn’t think they had a ton of flavor. I would argue the sides were better than the one thing this place is known for, their sausages.

Their beer selection was fantastic. And their beer prices are quite friendly considering what you normally pay in Columbus.

I also ordered a vanilla cream puff to go. I wasn’t impressed. Maybe it’s not a dessert for me, but I just didn’t like it very much.

All in all, this was a good experience. It isn’t cheap, and I don’t think the sausages are as good as advertised. But the rest of the menu that I was able to try was brilliant.

It’s been awhile since I haven’t been to Schmidt’s because I moved a year ago to Indiana.
Went on New Years and I was so happy to see that Lorenzo the bartender is again at the house! The last time I went they told me he was not anymore and definetly I saw the diffence in the service a few times I was there, before moving out of town.
I was a customer there for the last 7 yrs I lived in Columbus and I have to say that Lorenzo always has been very professional, gives an outstanding service, is the best in recomendations, anticipates the customer needs, goes above and beyond making your visit memorable.
I hope on my next visit to Ohio to see him working there.
Thank you Lorenzo for your service.

This was such a unique food experience and had great service. The German food was authentic and delicious. It stays pretty crowded and there is a wait.
We enjoyed the buffet for 25 but I couldn’t even eat 1 plate. The desserts liked so good but I couldn’t eat anymore.
Their beer selection was amazing.

What a neat spot! The service was excellent, they were friendly and cracked jokes with us, it was such fun. The history of the place was inter stung to read about, and the live music was fun to listen to. Truly lovely place to eat, the food was absolutely delicious. It was worth the wait.

Schmidt’s Sausage Haus in Columbus serves solid German fare in a lively, historic setting. The food was good, though not outstanding—our favorites were the soft pretzels with beer cheese, the brats, and the desserts. We noticed a new all-you-can-eat bar and wished we had tried it to sample more of the menu. That said, we loved the history, great service, and warm, inviting ambiance, which made the visit a memorable experience.

What a great experience. This was my family’s first time. The place was packed when we walked in but we were seated promptly. The service was great and the food came out remarkably fast. The potato soup was delicious. We ordered the pretzel appetizer which came with cheese and mustard. My husband ordered the sausage sampler which was great. I got the reuben with potato pancakes. And lastly the desserts were great. Fresh and delicious. The neighborhood was cute and there were 2 shops afterwards to visit.
