You MUST call ahead to order the pork shank (24 hours notice)
Every part of the meal was a flavor experience, from the house baked rolls and homemade seasoned whipped butter, to the melt apart in your mouth pork shank, and slightly sweet and warm apple strudel.
Portions were generous and very reasonably priced.
We will 100% be back, that’s for sure!
The service was excellent — they explained the dishes well and gave great recommendations. The escargot was a standout (definitely dip your bread in the leftover sauce). The chicken cordon bleu was delicious and paired perfectly with a German pilsner.
Had to try the apple strudel, inspired by Inglourious Basterds, and it was a great finish with coffee. Overall, a really enjoyable experience.
Outside is confusing, we approached from the right side of the building. The door was fenced off and the patio was full of old Christmas decorations. We thought the restaurant was closed, so we were walking to the bar next door when I noticed a 2nd door and an open sign.
We went inside the restaurant had plenty of open tables. We were asked if we had a reservation. They said only open tables were the high top bar tables. Found it to be odd, but we wanted to try the food so we stayed. We had also mentioned to the hostess it looked closed out. She responded we have the open sign on. Pretty sure we offended her, but for outsiders it looks closed.
The menu is varied with options that all sounded delicious. I ended up with the cabbage roll and my husband got a beef with red cabbage. There was a guy at the bar who had a delicious looking meal. Apparently you have to order that dish 24 hours in advance.
Both meals were lovely, I did get to the center of my cabbage roll and the meat did not look all the way cooked. I didn’t eat that part.
For dessert,
They had several options from Apple strudel to black Forrest cake.
