Okay this place SLAPS. I called ahead to ask if they had a veggie burger, and they were like “um no,” and the way they said it was kind of hilarious, as if to say, “Honey, we serve MEAT burgers here.” Once I got to the cool little spot – the way it’s laid out encourages patrons to talk to each other, and I had several nice interactions with other diners during my visit – I ordered a deluxe single hamburger with a 1/4 order of fries (it was PLENTY of food) and a bottled water. Making your burger “deluxe” adds a dollar to your total, and it adds lettuce, tomato and mayo to your burger. I added ketchup to my burger once it got to me, too. And my food got to me FAST! I was astonished. That cook was super efficient, and everything was cooked perfectly and absolutely DELICIOUS.
I couldn’t help but get a piece of peanut butter chocolate pie after my meal. Holy cow, it was so good. Apparently they get new pies in every Wednesday. By the way, the service was great, and I had a fantastic time. I highly recommend this establishment.

Cute little diner! Really friendly service! My kids and I enjoyed stopping in here for the first time (we were in town to visit the Cascades Humane Society). We liked the uniqueness of this local business. Regulars came and went and the waitress seemed to know what they liked. I’d rather support a business like this than a chain restaurant. Would love to see some hand cut fries here. Would totally go with the place. Thank you for a fun outing!

Pretty great burger place, a blast from older times for sure. the portions are large, we split a small fry, that was enough. a guy at the counter had some cauliflower bites, huge portion, gave us a taste – nice!
I had the olive burger, as a double. The double was a bit heavy. She had the cheeseburger. Really great place, top recommendation.

Made the trip to Jackson from Grass Lake after work on February 18th with the express intension of getting burgers and fries from Schlenkers. I decided to call in my order about 6 minutes before I would arrive at the shop at 6:05 pm was told that they were closed, I said your hours say open till 7pm where the person on the phone said the owner said it was slow and to close up shop, there will be no more service tonight. It felt rude and left a horrible taste in my mouth. The good news is Schlenkers will not have to worry about honoring their posted hours of operation with me and my family anymore as we will not be patronizing this establishment in the future.

Very solid burger. Freshly cooked. Soft bun, fresh ingredients. The tomatoes tasted like farm fresh tomatoes I’m wondering if they get them from a local farm in the summer. The beef was flavorful but not too salty. Good old classic American cheeseburger. No fluff or frills. Staff were all very friendly and prompt getting our order out even while being busy. They take cards now so nothing is stopping you from coming in and enjoying a classic. The atmosphere is a little outdated but I believe that adds to the experience. They aren’t trying to be anything they aren’t already. I’d recommend this spot to anyone looking for a good burger joint in Jackson .

Service was a little slacking, never offered me a refill. The food was great the olive burger very tasty. The half portion of fries we more than enough for the meal. The half order of onion ring we ok, nothing special. FYI there is no public restrooms.

I dropped by for lunch, and I was surprised to find that the lunch counter is basically all the seating there is during the winter. Still, I found a seat quickly and the waitress was quick to take my order. I ordered a double olive burger with cheese and an order of fries, and both arrived quite quickly. Prices weren’t too bad considering how things are these days, and the food was delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the olive sauce packed it with salty umami flavor. Overall, I’d say Schlenker’s makes for a great meal if you’re in the area and are feeling like having a taste of something more traditional.

Classic diner experience. Locally-owned. Small menu of what they do best! Burgers and fries made to order. Hot dogs, onion rings, etc. No heat lamps needed. Coke and Pepsi products served here. Service is quick and friendly. This place has been in business over a century now because they consistently offer a quality product and good service. Dine in our take out. This place is very popular during lunch. Best to come just before or just after the rush to get a seat at the counter inside, or the outside tables.

The best burger shop in Jackson michigan at a good price,service was amazing. I definitely recommend going there or getting it to go. Restaurant isn’t very big but have quick and friendly service
