Historisches Restaurant in Lübeck aus dem Jahre 1535 In der Schiffergesellschaft, auf langen Gelagebänken unter historischen Schiffsmodellen, die an der Decke hängen, lebt der Geist vergangener Seefahrer und Kaufleute. Die Historische Halle, in der sich zu Zeiten des 15. Jahrhunderts die Lübecker zusammenfanden um Handelsreisen zu organisieren, ist seit dieser Zeit weitgehend unverändert. Die einstige Institution der Seefahrergemeinschaft ist seit Jahrhunderten ein Restaurant, dass ganz im Sinne und Stil der Tradition fortgeführt wird. Dennoch ist die Küche modern, sowohl auf der Karte als auch im eigentlichen Sinn.

Historic building with quite delicious food.
Children meal has vegetables with like strong curry spices, that wasn’t delicious to them, portions are small.
Fish was ok, mustard sauce wasn’t my favourite.
Steak was delicious, fried potatoes too.
Chanterelle and potatoe soup was tasty, but very small size. Bread was the usual, not home made, neither warm.
Prices are quite high for what you get.
Overall nice experience but better not to have high expectations for food.

“Schiffergesselschaft”, I hope I’m spelling this right, has the aura of an old, rowdy food hall. It has a marvelous atmosphere and is so uniquely beautifully decorated and presented. The seating is unorthodox, but it works. The staff is highly professional. Not once did we feel missed. If anything, we felt they had a plan. The food and drink was hood. Excellent braised pork and salmon, and wonderful labskaus. The schnitzel might have been a bit lacking, though our standards are high, and we did feel the red cabbage portion a tad overwhelming. It was also slightly pricy, though this I felt excusable for the wonderful experience.

The atmosphere and ambiance are excellent. It’s an amazing museum-restaurant with positive energy as soon as you walk in. The service and staff are truly energetic, friendly, and welcoming. The food is worthy of such a beautiful place—high quality with a great taste. There is also a wide variety of drinks. I always enjoy coming here.

We had a wiener schnitzel and a rump steak—both well-prepared and enjoyable. The potatoes were just right, and the vegetables were fresh and flavorful. The schnitzel could have used a bit of sauce and maybe some extra greens on the side, though I’m sure that’s not part of the original recipe.
Service, however, was a highlight! Our sharp and energetic waitress brought a great vibe to the evening and made us feel right at home.
Definitely a spot I’d recommend to first-time visitors in Lübeck or anyone looking to soak up a bit of that classic German charm.

This is such a fantastic place. Restaurant serving typical North German fare in a setting that couldn’t be better suited. The house used to house the Shipowners Guild. Good qualify food. A bit pricey, although by no means extreme. And taking in the atmosphere, friendly service and quality and quantity of food you get – it is warmly recommended.

A “posh” place with history. Need to book in advance as it’s quite occupied in rush hours. I highly recommend its Labskaus which is the best that I tried in Hamburg and Lübeck. It’s kinda costy as you can easily spend over €50 per person. But still, excellent food and vibe!
