Comida deliciosa…I walked up to Sazon and so many good smells filled the air before even walking in. I went with 3 friends, including a ringer…J.R. grew up in a PR family in NYC and suggested this place…we walked in and immediately got into line…this is a busy place around lunch time…but that means that is good. The line moved fast. I went with a true standard of Puerto Rico Cooking; Arroz con gandules with pernil. What? I know it is like Christmas/Noche Buena/Thanksgiving in May! The Pernil is for those who have missed out on a joyous life: beautifully season pork typically shoulder (garlic, oregano, salt and some other marinade seasons I could not tell). The server was cool because I like pernil crujiente. So got me some crispy parts. This pernil was paired the with yellow rice (pigeon peas in the rice). Sazon makes an absolutely delicious pernil, crispy yet juicy and deeply satisfying. A plus… Go eat it…do it…They offer for $11 for a small or $13 for a large. I went with the large. I had a red can cola. The meal was epic. ($14.05). Plastic ware came along with napkins. The portions are gigantic, but so good. Only one of my companions finished his. The rest of us took ours home. It did not hold up great as take away. EAT IT ALL THERE!!!

*The food was so good half way through, I realized I forgot to take a picture of the plate!!

My 3 friends who came all had the same thing as me except…one had maduros (Sweet and tender plaintains) B+…I am more of a fan of tostones which Sazon had but i was full just eating the pernil only. One friend had a Malta Goya ( non-alcoholic malt beverage, often referred to as a “beer”, known for its rich, sweet flavor). It would not surprise me if he went to the grocery store and picked up a couple bottles.

JR had a Agua Fresca de Maracuyá. Simple passion fruit drink. Smiles with an A plus. He was beyond happy. We had to swear not to tell his family because they would be so jealous.

The next thing this dude had is up for debate. He had a pastelillos or empanadillas filled with beef…You call it whatever you want…just eat it do it!!! A-

My eyes caught the variety of cuchifritos in the display. I saw Rellenos de papa, which are potato balls stuffed with beef; chicharron; pig ears, and tostones…so many things.

Only negatives. First was the eat area was a little messy. Nothing napkins couldn’t fix. This place got really hot;,however they have big roasting ovens and fryers, but just be wary if you do not like it hot.

Positive, lots of families and lots of smiles/waves…just a great friendly place.

Loved the artwork and concepts important to the business/community.

This place is a “gift” for comida excelente. This is solid A plus for great Domican/Puerto Rican/Spanish/Latino food.

The food is not as good as it used to be back when I was coming so often about 15 – 20 years ago & that makes me really sad. People get a based Clientele & don’t feel the need to always improve. The prices sure went up likr crazy, but their quality is down, down, down. & of course, they may not care, because they have their loyal Clients that go there even when the taste is lacking. People eat anything now a days; yet the love is no longer in their service, nor in their taste, nor in their prices. I can get much better taste & price in an Olive garden with unlimited sald & breat too… To be more plain, I ordered the $10.00 plate, cause i didn’t have a lot of money & ended up paying $20 something plus tip. That makes no sense. Nooooo sense at all. Why ask me then, what size i want? Why tell me it’s a $10.00 plate, then charge me twice as much & not that much food was involved?

Make up your minds. Have a menu with prices, set out combos, have options to substitude, but stop over charging. This happened twice in one month. Their food tasted awesome & you felt good to have been there too, because they were sweet to you, kind & caring. Now, it almost feels loke people annoy them & they just want to go home. This is not good for customers!

Chicharon on another level – the skin is so crispy while the meat stays tender, and it is really flavorful. Even when reheated the next day in the microwave, it stayed crispy and didn’t dry out the meat. I would order this again any day any time. The cheese empanadas were also good, they had a good amount of stretchy cheese in them. I wasn’t really a fan of the chicken noodle soup, it had a lot of odd sized pieces with bones in them so was a little bit of work to eat, but came with white rice that was good. This won’t deter me from going back for that chicharron, and to try a few other things on the menu.

This place has really good food. It’s hard not to find myself waiting in line whenever I go here. They serve up really big portions too. This place is a gem for the Spanish community and anyone who likes their food.

What I picked up was the potato and beef and the plantain and beef. I was not impressed with either. Granted it could have been the time of day, 5:30pm, but the plantain was rubbery and the potato packed flavor. I will go back to try the hot foods. They looked good I just had to get something quick and easy.

Not only is the food delicious, I arrived at 8pm not realizing they had just closed, and they were nice enough to unlock the door and let me come in to buy my food to go. That was very nice of them after I had driven 25 minutes to get there. I will be back!!

I have been going here since I was a young boy. I love their food, it has so much flavor and good price overall. I always go with the Arroz con Gandules (Yellow Rice with Green Pigeon Peas), Pernil (Pork Shoulder), and Pollo Frito (Fried Chicken). I also got 2 Empanadillas for my meal. Unfortunately when I went today they were out of Pork Shoulder so I went with the Bistec Encebollado (Beef Steak with Onions and Peppers). There was a line ahead of us but service was good and people were served in a timely manner. It’s a very respectful environment and always has been how I remember it. Only complaint would be the parking unavailability (very limited)

This place used to have different type of rice. not this mushy market stuff that every other Spanish joint in worcester has. The grandmother used to run this when she left it went down hill… bought food the other day.. shit needed salt.. i never had flavorless rice before… PR but isnt Marias Dominican but the rice is the same…. some short light skin lady was laughing and mumbling talking shit about me when i went in there. The tall dark skin lady with a cap always talks shit too in spanish. i never know why… i dont know them
personally, but i’d call that poor customer service skills.. not good vibes at all…. thank God that young man works there. Thats bilingual, hes friendly. They should take note. Ill never spend money there again.

I grew up and lived in NYC for a couple years and the thing I missed most was the Latin food options.

Thrilled to have found this place. The portion sizes are generous and the flavor is on point. I tried the pernil and pollo frito combos with pigeon rice as well as side orders of the habichuelas and platano maduro. I also order a pound of pernil a la carte. Everything was seasoned and not too salty. The pernil was not overly oily and it came with nice crispy skin. I have enough leftover food for days and I’m so excited!
