In 1948, Faye “Arkie” Sawyer opened Arkie’s Grill in East Austin – a classic diner serving hearty breakfast fare and blue-plate specials. An Austin institution for over 60 years, Arkie’s motto was “Where good food, friends and fair prices meet.” When we opened our doors as Sawyer & Co. in 2014, we wanted to pay tribute to Arkie’s legacy of community while honoring our southern roots. Awesome brunch place! There is always a long wait so go prepared. But you can get drinks while you wait. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits. The scrambled eggs with crawfish was also very good though I would have liked more crawfish. The potatoes are a must eat…perfectly brown and crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth inside. The fried okra was very good too. Even the biscuit and corn bread were delicious!

This is such a beautiful restaurant with a Cajun inspired menu. Make a reservation tho or sit at the bar. Either way it’s a cool spot to eat. Oh so good cheesy grits.
