The smoked tuna was good but could have been better but, whoever seasoned it was alittle heavy handed with the salt.
I ordered the Pig Mac which was a burger topped with bbq pulled pork, pickles and mayo. It was very delicious and definitely full of flavor! I ordered a side of fries with it which was fresh and hot but, again someone was heavy handed with the salt.
My wife ordered the catfish plate with a side of their house made chips. The fried catfish itself was crispy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. But, again the chips were heavily seasoned with salt.
All in all the lunch was good other then salty smoked tuna dip, fries and chips.
Service: the service was excellent. The manager recognized me from a few months back. That is always nice.
Food:
Trout with chips and green beans: everything seemed to be cooked well. The fish was pan fried, the chips were crispy, and the beans were cooked appropriately. I couldn’t tell if it was just the chips that were over seasoned or if the fish and the green beans were over seasoned as well. It wasn’t unpalatable.
SPECIAL Red fish with stuffing and asparagus:
The sauces was a white sauce and had the right amount of flavor. The sauce paired very well with the fish and stuffing. Worth the price. Everything was cooked perfectly.
Orange cream cake:
Oh so delicious. The cake was moist, but not soggy. The whipped topping was light and was nicely sweetened, if it was sweetened at all.
I can really tell chef is behind all of this and I appreciate the food from savory roots. I will be visiting again!
Let me tell you, I’ve been missing out!. From first bite of the burger I could tell their food is amazing. The burger was one of the best ive had. And the bread pudding was also some of the best I’ve had. Mind you this was after driving home about 30 minutes to eat. I wish I would have eaten there. I can’t wait to go back and try more of the food. I know it’s going to be fantastic. The service was excellent as soon as I opened the door until I left. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Everyone here is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I’ve only ever had the shrimp remoulade poboy and it is delicious! My daughter usually gets fried shrimp, but today she wanted fried shrimp on the kids salad and they were able to accommodate that.
Today is the first time we’ve gotten dessert and boy were we missing out! The caramel white chocolate bread pudding is the best bread pudding I’ve ever had. Absolutely fantastic! Already trying to come up with excuses to go get some more!
