The food was delicious! Serving sizes are plentiful and more than enough for one person. The spicy oil wonton were my absolute favorite. I had the chicken lo mein and my husband had black pepper beef. The meat was a bit tough but very flavorful. Overall the ambiance was great, music was good, and the food was even better. We will definitely be coming back!

Savory Bun is such a gem. We loved everything we ordered : the coconut boba milk tea was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet, exactly how it should be. The tan tan noodles were rich, savory, and deeply satisfying, and the scallion pancakes were crispy on the outside and tender inside. The edamame came out warm and perfectly steamed, simple but done right. On top of the great food, the service was genuinely excellent and the ambiance felt cozy, calm, and welcoming ; this is a place you actually want to linger. We’ll definitely be back.

Came here for lunch and had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food here was DELICIOUS. Everything was hot and had amazing flavor. I personally favored the crab rangoons over the veggie egg rolls but both were still really good! The Shanghai soup dumplings are pork based and went really well with their dumpling sauce that is placed at each table. The black pepper beef felt like I was eating a home cooked meal and came with a side of white rice. The veggie fried rice was also one of my personal favorites as the flavor was amazing and reminded me of rice you can get at hibachi places. I can’t wait to come back with the rest of my family and try more things off their menu. 10/10
UPDATE:
I went there again and tried more stuff off the menu and was not disappointed. Everything was piping hot and was full of flavor. This time around we tried the fried calamari, chive pork pan fried dumplings, veggie lo mein, and general tso’s chicken.

Savory Bun gets a 8.9 out of 10 from me.
Ended up trying a bunch of dishes here everything from their House made buns, to their house made dumplings. Everything was authentic and flavorful.
Didnt try their entrees or rice dishes, so will have to check those out next time.

I only found out about this place through social media. The problem with those “influencers” is that they think everything is 5/5 and is amazing. We came in on Saturday 1/31/26. The menu will definitely appeal to mostly American tastes, most of the non-Chinese will think this is the best thing that ever happened to them. The service itself left much to be desired. It could use more work. Our server the guy brought over the wrong appetizer. He gave us scallion pancakes instead of the beef pancake roll. He fixed it after I pointed it out. Prices were slightly more expensive than the average Americanized Chinese restaurant.
We ordered spicy chili oil wontons, beef pancake roll, crabmeat & pork soup bun, thumbling pan fried pork bun, and minced pork noodle. Overall it’s a 3 out of 5.
-spicy chili oil wontons 3 – not spicy at all. After eating at DTF quite a few times, there is no comparison. This version was mid. $9 is a bit much for this. $7-8 is better.
-beef pancake roll 3.5 – I never had this before. It wasn’t bad. Make sure you use the hoisin sauce with it because there is no taste without it. This is not $14 worth. It’s worth at least $7.
-crabmeat & pork soup bun 4.5 – I like the juice and it had a good amount of filling. However, the skin sticks to those mini foil baking cups. It’ll be better if they use perforated parchment or steaming paper like at DTF so that it doesn’t stick and keep all of the juices inside.
-thumbling pan fried pork bun 5 – I really liked this one. The skin was crispy. It pulled apart easily. The filling inside of the pork buns were juicy.
-minced pork noodle 2.5 – we mixed it up but there wasn’t much taste. It was more subtle than prominent. In addition, the meat to noodle ratio was horrible. There wasn’t a lot of meat in here. When they first give it to you, it looks like a lot of meat until you start mixing it.

Wow so incredibly delicious and unique!! My wife and I used to have to drive to the heart of the city to get this kind of quality. Amazing food and amazing service and atmosphere. Highly recommend! Glad to have this option in Roselle!! We ordered the beef noodle soup and beef pan fried buns alongside a brown sugar milk tea and Halloween drink. Everything was perfect thank you!!

My wife and I visited Savory Bun for dinner and had an overall enjoyable experience. The interior is well lit and inviting, with walls decorated with vibrant photos of various Asian dishes that really set the mood for the meal.
We started with the Crab Rangoons, which were good and had a nice balance of crispiness and flavor. For our mains, we ordered the Vegetable Chow Mein, Szechuan Chicken, Chicken Pan Fried Dumplings, and the Wonton Chicken Stir Fry. While the Szechuan Chicken wasn’t anything too special, the rest of the dishes were tasty and satisfying.
The highlight of the evening was definitely the customer service—the staff was very kind, attentive, and professional throughout our visit.
Overall, Savory Bun delivered a pleasant dining experience with solid food and great service.
